My mother was born in Ontario, Canada in 1920. Came here to the U.S. with her mother and older brother when she was probably 3 or 4 years old. As the story goes, my grandmother was supposed to be reporting for a job in Chicago, but went to Rochester, New York instead. According to my mother, in order to avoid having to pay the fee or tax to come here, my grandmother changed the spelling of her last name (married name). When my grandmother got ill, she went back to Canada and died there in 1946, the year before I was born. My father was a naturalized citizen from Holland, who came here with his parents and two brothers in 1913. He was always after my mother to get her citizenship, but she was never able to get a copy of her birth certificate as they had no record of her birth.
These people should not be forced to take an experimental jab.
