Vladimir Putin has been dealt a huge blow after a new poll showed enthusiasm among Russians for the Ukraine war has plunged to a record low as the country turns on him over the surging casualty rate.
Putin ordered Russia's troops to begin their invasion of Ukraine on February 24, 2022 but increasing losses in the battlefield have left his countrymen firly on the backfoot against Volodymyr Zelensky's heroes.
Now new data from Russian pollster Levada has revealed just 38 percent said they definitely support "the actions of the Russian armed forces in Ukraine" - down from a high of 52 percent in March 2022.
Just over a fifth (21 percent) of the 1,600 Russians questioned last month said they probably or definitely do not support their country's actions in Ukraine - up from 14 percent last year.
Only a further 32 percent expressed moderate support, with 10 percent having no opinion on it at all.
Only 17 percent said they followed events in Ukraine "very carefully", showing Russian engagement with the war has also plummeted. This was down from the peak of 32 percent recorded in September 2022.
Significantly, an additional 17 percent said they "don't follow at all" and 34 percent followed "without much attention" - both record highs.
Half of the respondents said they would like the commencement of peace talks between Russia and Ukraine to end the war, versus 38 percent who were in favor of continuing military operations.
Among the most common reasons given by those backing peace talks included the number of casualties in Ukraine and being "weary of war."
But despite this, the survey revealed there is still very little support for making any concession to end the war with Ukraine.

Too bad that it is very difficult for the Russian people to rise up and dispose of this tin horn dictator, Putin. Killing and disposing of Putin must come from another quarter. Such as his rump Politburo. That is called his Security Council, Nicolai Patrushev and similar high ranking turds.

After all, we’ve already stated that our goal is to ‘weaken’ and ultimately ‘decolonialize’ (meaning break-up) Russia. They all know it in Russia...so, again, why is his support low? Do they REALLY want their country destroyed?

Polls? In Russia? Putin has been in power for almost 25 years. He doesn’t govern by polls.
You think the Russians are so stupid? That they have any love for this stinker Putin. He rules by fear and defenestrations. Many Russians took to the streets crying when Stalin died.

Many of my Russian colleagues support taking back their historic lands( Odesa, Crimea, Kharkov, etc…) and “ putting the West in their place.
Believe what you will, but Joe’s narrative is false, and as we are seeing, crumbling. Drinking the western cool aid is going to result in a tremendous hang over ( much like senile Joe’s Covid vax hoax, mandates, shut downs).
I relish the day when the war mongers realize they have been had, it’s coming.
