Can the state of California overrule a city within the state?
Long Island’s Nassau County ( which voted for Trump in 2020 and Republicans in 2022 ) steadfastly REFUSED to listen to New York State’s mask and vaccine mandates. Gov. Kathy Hochul huffed and puffed but couldn’t do a damn thing about this opposition.

Huntington Beach was the site of one of the first big protests against lockdowns and masking on May 1, 2020, when the MAGA crowd hijacked May Day. The pier at HB has seen frequent protests ever since, including a rally on New Years Eve, 2020, which took place in defiance of Gov. Gavin Newsom’s 9:00 PM curfew. That’s where I greeted the new year, 2021.
