EVs Are Awesome Except When They Break Down and There's No One to Fix Them
PJ Media ^ | 9/6/23 | Rick Moran

So you got yourself a brand new, $70,000 subsidized electric vehicle (EV), and everyone on your block is envious. Quiet, non-polluting, cheaper to operate than a gas-powered vehicle, right?

That’s not entirely accurate. The grim fact is, you better pray your EV never breaks down. The electric vehicle manufacturers sort of forgot to train the necessary number of mechanics to service your beautiful new car, leaving you with repair costs that will be through the roof.

It seems like too obvious a detail to overlook. And it’s going to blow up the EV industry once a couple of millions of them are on the road.

EV’s are, it turns out, incredibly dangerous to work on. The electric voltage technicians work with could kill mechanics very quickly. Then there’s the fire hazard with EV batteries.

And the specialized diagnostic equipment needed to service EV’s is putting off most small, independent repair shops that experts agree are going to be needed to keep the cost of repairs and warranties down.

Business innovators used to think through and plan their product's evolution from drawing board, to factory, to owner, and thereafter until the product reached it's end date. No more.

It is now:

1. Pot-fueled half-a$$ed idea

2. Taxpayers pay me money.

3. Government requires taxpayers pay me more money.

Someone loses repeatedly in the above.

I haven’t heard any stories about EVs being stolen.

That might be one good thing about them.

My Mach e (a commuter car, I have other gasoline vehicles) is over 2 years old. My out of pocket after tax credit was a little over $50K. I can go 100 miles for $7 of home electricity…but I usually only drive 40 - 50 miles a day with it.

After 2 years my repairs have been tires (the OEM’s were only made to last 15K miles or so) and wiper blades.

I HATE that the gubmint is pushing them on people but I like this car a lot.

The earth? Even if it wasn’t a large mass of inert material it wouldn’t care what I did.

I believe every Democrat should give up their guns, cars and freedoms to their government.

They should just catch fire & burn... and then no one would have to repair them

“EVs Are Awesome Except When They Break Down and There’s No One to Fix Them”

Some people simply CANNOT accept innovations in technology...all they do is bitch, rather than try to figure out a way to hot-wire their car, or find a solar farm to recharge it.

Probably like when some dolt stole my recumbent bike off the carrier, cops found it ditched two blocks away after seeing someone trying to ride and falling over. I suspect someone who’s never driven an EV wouldn’t be able to jump right in and go.

“I can go 100 miles for $7 of home electricity”

[For now]

“Consistent with EPA’s traditional approach to establishing pollution standards for power plants under section 111 of the Clean Air Act, the proposed standards are based on technologies such as
carbon capture and sequestration/storage (CCS)
low-GHG hydrogen co-firing”

https://www.epa.gov/stationary-sources-air-pollution/greenhouse-gas-standards-and-guidelines-fossil-fuel-fired-power

“Base load affected facilities that follow the CCS pathway must meet a second phase standard based on 90% capture of CO2, using CCS, by 2035”

“Baseload affected facilities that follow the low-GHG hydrogen pathway must meet a second phase standard based on co-firing 30% low-GHG hydrogen by volume by 2032 and a third phase standard based on cofiring 96% by volume low-GHG hydrogen by 2038”

Imagine what your future electric bills are going to look like.

“ Imagine what your future electric bills are going to look like.”

There’s no way of knowing how liberals will screw things up in the future.

All I know for sure is when gas was about $5 thanks to Biden’s screwups I saved a lot of money.

“Plugin vehicles are all the rage in the Chinese auto market. Plugins scored 600,000 sales last month, up 54% year over year (YoY). That pulled the year-to-date (YTD) tally to over 2.5 million units.

“Share-wise, with May showing another great performance, plugin vehicles hit 35% market share! Full electrics (BEVs) alone accounted for 24% of the country’s auto sales. This pulled the 2023 share to 35% (24% BEVs), and considering the current growth rate, we can assume that China’s plugin vehicle market share will end over 40% by the end of 2023.

“Another measure of the importance of this market is the fact that China alone represented around 60% of global plugin registrations last month!”

Also, their tires wear out twice as fast. They’re also very expensive.

There is a video of 10,000 never used electric cars in China, rotting away. People aren’t buying them. The government is.

LOL! Our rural county allowed one solar farm to be built. It was about two years ago and it has been nothing but trouble. The small area it was supposed to provide power for has been getting practically no service from the project. In addition it is an eye-sore taking up a lot of acreage. Last year, the county declared a moratorium on any new solar farms.
