Trump vows to end ‘madness’ of EV push

Former President Trump is vowing to end the “madness” of the Biden administration’s push for electric vehicles — a likely appeal to voters in the swing state of Michigan.

In a pair of Truth Social posts Monday evening, Trump took aim at the electric vehicle industry and President Biden’s push for more electric vehicles. With this opposition to electric vehicles, Trump is likely trying to persuade Michigan voters to support him over Biden, who carried the swing state in 2020.

I read yesterday that 20% of the JFB Rush To Buy an EV owners have already gone back to fossil fuel vehicles.

Smart move.

EVs are bad for the environment and bad for humanity.

As Texas has done, special taxes and disincentives should be placed upon them.

They are overweight and they shift us from a carbon based economy to rare earth elements based economy

To access those elements is far more environmentally destructive than our means of accessing carbon based energy.

Great news!
The Government should not be subsidizing any products especially for a woke agenda. Let the market place decide.

The subsidies for EV wasted a tremendous amount of money and pushed a flawed, environmentally dirty, unsustainable technology.

If people want EV because it suits their lifestyle they are free to purchase but there should be a yearly fee for the extra damage to the roadways. Owners should pay full freight on the energy and the infrastructure needed to support those vehicles. Car & home insurance should reflect the added risk.

The market will decide, as it always does - and even with all of the subsidies, market demand for EVs is fading away. With the exception of Tesla, EV models sit unwanted on dealer lots.

I know a lot of auto industry retirees and not one of them will ever buy an EV.

GM's decision to all electric by 2035 will destroy that company. Their EV's will become the modern day version of the Edsel....

Right. But like everything else, the public is told only one side of the story.
Green is good. Just don’t look behind the curtain.

Trump needs to be more thorough on his policy. I hope that comes out in a campaign speech or in a policy statement. He could link those in Truth social. This is a complex issue that involves end-to-end energy policy. Everything green is being subsidized while core energy infrastructure is crumbling or inadequate. America cannot be a manufacturing giant without reliable and inexpensive energy. The left and RINOs continually move in the opposite direction. EV are just a small part of the equation.

Decisions are not made in stone. I expect this decision to be short lived.

Thought....the government shouldn’t be allowed to rob someone of their money to give to someone else just because they want to buy a toy, electric car. Especially when the majority of those buying the toy, electric cars are affluent liberals and urban, hipsters.

Concerns....here’s to hoping that he wins in 2024 and within minutes of taking the oath he gets rid of any and all tax breaks...and...drops a 75% tariff on all the EVs that Chevy and Tesla make in China and import into the USA. And if Barra or Musk whine about it, raise the tariffs to 85%.

If I’m not mistaken, one of Pres Trump’s main points with EVs and other items for purchase are the tax breaks/incentives that go along with them. He pushed letting the market decide. Government shouldn’t be in the business of picking winners.

He’ll lose the urban vote. But then, he never had it.

I think hybrids have value, and EV’s have value for people that live in congested urban areas with little need to leave the area. They could also be a nice third vehicle for some people.

I have 32 acres of woods and fields. I’d love an electric side-by-side. But they are WAY too expensive.

“Biden, who carried the swing state in 2020.“

Biden, who stole the swing state in 2020. In 22 they welded the door shut. The cheating is baked in and any effort to contest an election result must originate from the SOS office which is of course run by the rats. Mi is gone.

Yes. One look at GM's affirmative action hire CEO tells you everything you need to know.

President Trump really came through for us in knocking the wind out of the climatista control agenda AND making us energy independent (so we can continue to drive our efficient, economical hydrocarbon-fueled vehicles).

Sad that his second term was stolen from him! (and from US)

I’m confident that he’ll continue in that vein when he takes over in January 2025.
