US officials are growing frustrated with how Ukraine is fighting the war, The New York Times said.
The officials are worried that Ukrainian forces are not consolidating their power in the right areas.
If Ukraine wants to speed up its counteroffensive, it will need to change tactics, they said.
As Ukraine presses ahead in its slow-moving counteroffensive against Russia, some US officials appear to be growing increasingly concerned.
Half a dozen US officials, who spoke on condition of anonymity, told The New York Times and other outlets that they are starting to question some of Ukraine's military tactics, including where on the frontline they are placing their combat units.
Ukrainian commanders are dividing their forces equally between the east and the south of the country when they should be consolidating them more in the south, the officials said.
They urged Ukraine to push through the vast minefields left behind by Russia in the area, even if this means losing more soldiers and equipment in the process, according to the reports.

They should emphasize the through part and tell 'em to avoid the pushing down.
Keanne offers practical, realistic advice
As long as putin/russia are fighting *in* Ukraine they are losing
“Soon these wickedly evil people will be forced to acknowledge a crushing defeat.”
Their response to impending defeat is always going to be escalation. My guess is we will get a renewed push for the No Fly Zone.
Barring a miracle that’s not happening.
If milley was rolling through a mine field one could follow him with a division.
“All of these reports, many are from apparently authoritative sources, seem to be wildly conflicting.”
Larry Johnson had an observation from his days in the CIA: Deep State leaks happen when there are internal divisions in the Deep State. If everyone is on the same page - no leaks.
There are elements in the Regime who are leaking out the reality. There are still elements in the Regime that cling to the fantasy of victory - same as the Ukrazies on this board.
“A lot of old-schoolers here don’t want to recognize the new reality, that Heritage Americans are now seen as second class citizens, and the only way to regain our homeland is for the Global American Empire to suffer catastrophic economic and military defeats.”
Preach !
Some conspiracy ha, ha, ha. Do you really think anything in weapons, given to Ukraine by NATO is going to change the always going to happen outcome?
There is no military solution for Ukraine the outcome will be a negotiated settlement with Russia keeping most of what it now occupies...this will occur once Ukraine realizes this and are tired of dying and get what they have destroyed
Interesting to think the various Intel services might leak. More interesting to me is that they misuse the term, "intelligence," as Congress misuses the word, "budget."
But hey --- we're number one! Yeah!
$ 32,834,963,347,234 and rising rapidly. One would think that "intelligence" agencies would keep in mind the fiscal health of the nation for which they develop "intelligence."
But one would be wrong.
The notion of a world with that “Two Minutes Of Hate” so depressing.
Drivel

When Johnson got to the CIA in the mid-1980s, he was amazed to see that material that was supposedly “SCIF only” would regularly appear in the media.
Yep.
Define winning for Ukraine and losing for Russia.
Yes, Biden has led us into a new Cold War with Russia, which is now more closely allied with China than before. This war could have been avoided. Biden eschewed diplomacy and chose confrontation.
Me too. It doesn't matter who's right or wrong to the MIC. It's just another for profit war, but one that's easier to sell because we don't have to send our own troops in.
Those dirtbags really don’t even bother selling it to the American people anymore. They ignore us and just send our money anyway because they know they all cheat to win and our votes don’t matter.
We have a government for the government now.
How about they go themselves into those minefields. Politicians shouldn’t back-seat drive generals.
>”Define winning for Ukraine and losing for Russia.”
Pretty much the same thing. Russia leaves Ukrainian and Black Sea territory, and attacks are reduced to a border buffer. This may or may not be caused by Putin either dying or suffering such ill health that it is a natural contraction. It is followed up by some diplomacy, at first rancorous, but then agreement to an armistice.
While both sides would want a lot more, this is likely what they will get. I don’t imagine Ukraine being admitted to NATO.
Russia is not going to leave Crimea. And I doubt they will leave the Donbas region now that they have incorporated the region into Russia.
‘Everything is ahead of us’: Ukraine breaks Russian stronghold’s first line of defence
Ukrainian forces have decisively breached Russia’s first defensive line near Zaporizhzhia after weeks of painstaking mine clearance, and expect faster gains as they press the weaker second line, the general leading the southern counteroffensive has said.
Brig Gen Oleksandr Tarnavskiy estimated Russia had devoted 60% of its time and resources into building the first defensive line and only 20% each into the second and third lines because Moscow had not expected Ukrainian forces to get through.
