A Giant grocery store in Southeast Washington, DC, has removed name brands like Advil, Colgate, and Tide from its shelves to better prevent a spike in theft.
Beyond the removal of brands, shoppers at Giant will also be required to show their receipts to security guards before exiting the store. Ira Kress, president of the chain, told the Washington Post that the store can no longer serve the community by keeping its stores at high risk.

Pepsi got real aggressive back in the early 80’s when General Cinema owned a lot of the bottling plants. I mean really aggressive. Locally they almost put Coke out of business.
Then one day in the late 80’s Pepsi woke up and realized GC owned nearly as much of the company as Pepsi did. Pepsi immediately started buying back bottling plants/territory because General Cinema was starting to dictate policy.
The 80’s were a crazy time.

That’s been COSTCO policy forever, even in our “safe” communities.
