Absolute sea level has been rising about a millimeter or 2 per year for many years and is not accelerating. Sea level change relative to land mass varies widely accordingly to local conditions of geology, and subsidence from various sources. Much of the east coast and gulf coast is slowly sinking, which makes for great misleading headlines about sea level rise.
New Orleans has been sinking since the French built it a couple of hundred years ago.
Of course...controlling and diverting Mississippi river silt hasn’t helped the situation.
