CHICAGO (WLS) -- Chicago shootings this Labor Day Weekend have left three people dead and another 29 wounded, police said.
A teen boy was critically injured in a South Side shooting on Sunday evening, Chicago police said.
Police said the shooting happened in the Englewood neighborhood's 6000-block of South Elizabeth Street just after 7 p.m.
The teen was near the sidewalk when someone shot him in the head, police said.
Over an hour earlier, a 6-year-old boy was shot inside a South Side home, Chicago police said.
Police said the shooting happened in the Washington Heights neighborhood's 1100-block West 90th Street just before 5:30 p.m.
The boy was inside a home during a gathering when he heard a loud noise and noticed he had been shot in his thigh, police said.
Three men were shot, one critically, during a shooting in the South Austin neighborhood Saturday evening, police said.
The shooting happened in the 5100-block of West Madison Street around 11:30 p.m., police said.
At about 3 p.m., the 20-year-old man was found lying on the sidewalk with a gunshot wound to the chest in the 1100-block of West 58th Street, according to Chicago police.
He was taken to University of Chicago Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, police said.

I recently traveled to Chicago for a business trip. To be honest, I was surprised at how well the city compares to other big cities. I never saw one tent, one homeless person, one shopping cart, one under bridge encampment, one beggar, nothing. This was in about a 10 mile radius of Midway airport. I was expecting the worst. I’m sure there are parts of Chicago you want to avoid, but in general I felt safer in Chicago then I have in any number of California and other west coast cities when visiting.
Only 3 out of 32? Pitiful.

3 dead black folks in Chicago, total silence. Three dead black folks in Jacksonville, the world ends. The only difference was the color of the trigger finger.

I should have mentioned no ratted out campers either. lol Yeah, when it happens it happens quick. I guess Austin just no longer cares with the huge transplanted left coast population there now. They want to feel at home.
The THUGS are smart. As long as “killings” stay low, they can “wound” as many as they want and politicians won’t lift a finger.
I saw this exact scenario play out 40yrs ago. TOO MANY KILLINGS invite outside response.

Let's hope the 100+ degrees we had daily in August will drive those left coasters out. If not, maybe the thermometer will have to stay up there through September.
