Slavery was then and still is abhorrent. It takes evil people for their to be human trafficking, period.

It wasn't long agon that some black leader in an African nation to basically say that the problem was on both sides of the coin, though I can't remember who he was or exactly how long ago it actually was. It might have been during Clinton's presidency. But time escapes me anymore, to be quite honest. 😋

I guess PBS missed that one to keep from seeing the light of day, since it might have had some healing affect, and they want to sow discord between people.

Would you have said the same thing, had you lived 200 years ago? I highly doubt it.

Can't say, but I would hope that I would have been among those who were saying it even back then. Communication was far more localized, so I may have not even realized that slavery was a thing. But all peoples of a certain station in life were treated poorly by those holding higher positions of status.

So, in reality there were slaves of every race, owned by peoples of every race.

If there weren't people who recognized that all of these under-classed people were human beings too, it would never have changed, would it have?

Religion played a large role in changing the minds of people, in my opinion. Could that be why they are trying so hard to destroy religion in this modern age? In order for them to be able to return to bondage of human beings once again? I think so. Because from where I stand it sure looks like evil in on a major up tick around the globe in what is referred to as western societies.

That is why we must fight the evil that has grabbed the levers of control in this nation.

We fall, and the world falls into unfettered evil.

We all hope to be that person.

But the sad fact is probably 90% of us, would be going “Sieg Heil” if we had lived in Nazi Germany.

In defense of PBS, they did run the show and it was very powerful as it was obvious that this man was genuine and very upset at learning the truth about slavery.

It will take REAL PEOPLE, with cred, to STEP UP and talk honestly about the past. But that’s never happened in the US with the right people, and it’s doubtful that it will happen in the future...hence the crazy number of ‘civil wars’ around the world.

That's why these people keep trying to label America first supporters as Nazis. But it's really a reaction to them destroying a once great nation, while they are the ones with the brownshirts with designs of tyrannical control of power & unfettered wealth for them only.

I would stop supporting Trump tomorrow if he showed signs of seeking that kind of power for himself & his family.

Yes, I understood that, but the truth is, PBS has done more harm than good overall. So, I had to downplay any kudos they might have deserved for actually airing this man & his story. because once they did, they want right back to the approved narrative to create more division & hate instead of healing & understanding. Thus, the reason for the statement I made.

<>Her Trevelyan ancestors owned more than 1,000 slaves on the Caribbean island of Grenada<>

Wow. That took lots of moolah. Very successful business-people.

Absolutely...my praise of PBS is very limited, but still more than I can say for ‘non-government’ media, which I cannot come up with a single citing worthy of mentioning here.

Well, you got a point there. But even they get it right on a rare occasion or two. But the difference is hardly worth noting. 🙂

As one whose grandparents were driven from Ireland due to Britain’s policy of starvation I could use some reparations.

Since I'm both English and Irish, and one of my ancestors came here from Ireland in the potato famiine, I guess I'd have to write myself a check.
