Logo Home Commentary Commentary Georgia Sec. of State’s Testimony Blows Up Fani Willis’ Case By Nathan Baker - September 1, 2023 Former President Donald Trump did not ask Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger to engage in any illegal conduct during the 2020 election, according to his testimony.
The refutation of the claim that Trump asked to fraudulently “find votes” blows a gaping hole in the middle of Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis’ racketeering case against the former president and 18 of his associates.
According to George Washington University Law School professor Jonathan Turley, Raffensperger testified that the call, while “extraordinary,” was a “settlement negotiation” that took place during a debate over whether to pursue another recount of votes and not a demand to make up new votes.

Well of course. You have stretch his words far beyond what he plainly meant to fit them in the DAs theory. I’ve criticized Trump on any number of occasions for careless phrasing. But this isn’t even one of those instances.
Think that is going to stop them?
“ Think that is going to stop them?”
I assume Raffensperger will lie now.
Remind me what is the alleged organized crime activity that justifies the application of the RICO laws?
Is it Democrats and their appointed judges that interfere with federal elections?
As if facts have anything to do with this.
He testified in open court, under oath. “Lying” now becomes “perjury”. So I don’t suspect R’s story will change.
Exactly
I doubt it will change anything about this kangaroo kourt.
Facts have nothing to do with it. This whole Georgia thing is not so much about getting a conviction but intimidating and threatening with bankruptcy anyone who dares to work with or for Trump; making an example of his supporters by hanging their scalps on the wall. Win or lose, the commies will reward Fani for her loyalty to the cause.
“ He testified in open court, under oath. “Lying” now becomes “perjury”. So I don’t suspect R’s story will change.”
One would think so.
One would also think politicians act, there is client-lawyer privilege and there is free speech, yet this arrest and prosecution is taking place.
Yeah, you have a point; we live in Bizarro World these days.
I think they are trying to merge the court of law wih the court of public opinion. They have painted themselves into a corner and are forced to go forward even though it is obvious to anyone paying attention that they have no case - just like the Zimmerman and Rittenhouse cases.
I’m looking forward to it.
“He testified in open court, under oath. “Lying” now becomes “perjury”. So I don’t suspect R’s story will change.”
Exactly. I like how the prosecution is taking the written word of the Washington Post over the sworn testimony of Raffensperger.
If he changes his story, without any proof, that’s just a straight as credibility as a witness, as he would have lied under oath.
Also, this banana republic shit is only helping Trump - everyone knows Trump did nothing wrong. Maybe some of Trump’s smarter enemies don’t want to be part of the clown show.

I could have told them that from the get-go. This was much ado about nothing.
Well, look on the bright side. Donald got some great campaign bling to sell, T-shirts and ball caps and mugs. Oh, my.
Fanny swung with a right hook, and a left hook, and a haymaker, and was down for the count.
