A 98-year-old man has been charged in Germany with being an accessory to murder as a guard at the Nazis’ Sachsenhausen concentration camp between 1943 and 1945, prosecutors said Friday.

The German citizen, a resident of Main-Kinzig county near Frankfurt, is accused of having “supported the cruel and malicious killing of thousands of prisoners as a member of the SS guard detail,” prosecutors in Giessen said in a statement.

They did not release the suspect’s name.

He is charged with more than 3,300 counts of being an accessory to murder between July 1943 and February 1945.

You bring up questions that deserve careful consideration.

However, the modern left won’t bother with any of that. Deep down they’re okay with what their hero Che Guevara said:

“To send men to the firing squad, judicial proof is unnecessary. These procedures are an archaic bourgeois detail. This is a revolution! And a revolutionary must become a cold killing machine motivated by pure hate. We must create the pedagogy of the execution wall.”

And as a side note, you cannot buy a shirt on Amazon with a Confederate flag on it. Bad, bad flag! But you can find many shirts with Che’s picture on it.

“If you joined the SS, you knew what you were getting into.”

Really?

Most of the young men thought they were fighting for their country.

Were they fools? For sure.

But—I would bet well under 50% were true sociopaths.

The SS prime directive was to protect Hitler, not Germany.

Germany must not have any prohibition of ex post facto laws, like the US constitution has.

Or had, the alleged rape case against Trump was only allowed to come to trail cause the NY assembly extended the ability to sue for civil liability for sex crimes, just long enough snare Trump.

If he was SS, wouldn’t that be a different story? I knew some regular German army draftees. They were your typical draftee. But SS folks were a bit more “intense.”

If you were a teenager such philosophical distinctions were meaningless to you.

They were not studying Heidegger and Fichte’s collected works before signing up...

Lol.

Thank you - that quote from Che Guevera sums it up exactly!!

I look at the angry woke, purple-haired activist morons that are all over American campuses and cities.

Their ideology and identity already give them a broadly defined class of enemies. What would happen if they were organized, were given guns, and the power to do as they wanted?

True in many cases. But by 1943 the SS was drafting men into its ranks.
So who knows? This old German might have been a draftee.

Meanwhile the person that started a war that has so far killed 500,000 people and risks nuclear war spends time blissfully vacationing.

My post was to ridicule the hypocrisy of judging a kid, a kid at the time as if he was at the conference the Nazis decided what to do about the “*Jewish Question”
I would like to see the source of your information on civilian deaths, Allies vs Axis.
Considering Germany nor Japan didn’t have strategic bombers in action like the Allies which basically floated every major city in Germany and Japan and a few towns on the Normandy coast.
Germany certainly destroyed a few cities like Warsaw, Stalingrad(which was bombed by both sides) and a few other cities I can’t recall at this moment.

One of our neighbors was navigator for 8th Army Air Force. Was shot down over Germany and spent two years in a Stalag. He would often talk with my dad who by coincidence helped free him. There were certain businesses that never got bombed, and it really ticked him off. Died about 25 years ago, pieces of flack still in his body.

Well at least the Germans are going after Germans now, instead of Ukrainians just to show, “See it wasn’t only us!”

I’m sure there is a 90-year-old German who as a 12-year-old was a pin boy at an SS bowling alley. If they can arrest and try a 96-year-old secretary why not a 90-year-old pin boy? Got to keep that Nazi stuff going, and maybe squeeze more money out of Germany while they’re at it.

What should scare the $hit outta everyone is we are living in a post Christian world.
In 1939, Germany as much of Europe was overwhelmingly church going Christians.
Hitler couldn’t broadcast his intentions on exterminating the Jews. I’ve listened to diaries from front line Here soldiers who were shocked when they heard at what the Hitler government were doing. It made a mockery of their fellow soldiers sacrifice against their war against “bolshevism
Just think what can happen without the Christian valves holding them back? We already kill millions of babies and now allowing sex change operations on children.
It boggles my mind what’s next.

The Nazis had a saying, “First the Saturday People, then the Sunday People.”

Hitler lamented that Germany was a “Christian” country, with its “flabbiness”, he would have much preferred had German adopted Islam.

A reasonable request. I've read about it all my life. Sometimes the figure is 6 times more civilian deaths among Allies (caused by Axis) than the other way around. Some times 8 or 10 times as many. An example is from: https://www.britannica.com/event/World-War-II/Costs-of-the-war. If you copy/paste the rows of number per country into an Excel spreadsheet and sum the "civilian deaths due to war" column for each section (Axis section, then Allies section), the Allied civilians is 16 million while the Axis civilians is 2 million.

An argument could be made that the lack of precision bombing by the Axis powers is one reason why they killed more Allied civilians. Of course, we're talking about "precision bombing" as defined 80 years ago, not like we'd define it today.

Can we charge every woman who ever had an abortion with being at the very least an accessory to murder?

Until then...I could care less about capturing the murderers from decades ago when we let murderers go free today.

IMO...the lower your rank and the younger you were the less moral responsibility you have. A 18 year old kid...who had been fed Nazi cr@p since he was 10,and who knew he’d be shot if he disobeyed orders...doesn’t belong in the same courtroom as Himmler,Goebbels,Goering and many, many others.

Murder was always illegal in Germany. No ex post facto needed.
