In the [FORMER] “Land of the Free”.
Americans are the most over-regulated, least free people on the planet.
Making a law against yelling fire in a crowded theater substitutes government restrictions for common sense. there is no harm in yelling fire, unless those that are listening refuse to think for themselves... do i see flames, do i smell smoke, do i feel heat, do i hear the roar...
it prevents debate on whether the one who yells is a complete idiot and liar... but gives the government an excuse to cull the very speech that may save people from a totalitarian regime.
He mocked them and they weren’t having it.
They are mean vicious un-American scumbags.
WOW. Had not heard this story.
“RPSO Detective Randell Iles, who was immediately assigned to investigate the post...”
There’s the problem right there. Obviously there is not enough crime in the parrish to merit a full-time detective if he can take time to “investigate” Facebook posts. Eliminate the position.
Wow. I had not heard of this.
Unbelievable.
“gives the government an excuse to cull the very speech that may save people from a totalitarian regime.”
Also might chill the kind of speech that would save people if an actual fire broke out in a crowded theater.
Thinking for oneself, or disagreeing with the government should be an A felony.
Can you yell “Theater” in a crowded fire?
That Schenk decision has long since been overturned.
Idiots.
“Back in March 2020, a dozen or so sheriff’s deputies wearing bullet-proof vests descended upon Waylon Bailey’s home in Rapides Parish, Louisiana, with their guns drawn, ordered him onto his knees with his hands on his head, and arrested him for a felony punishable by up to 15 years in prison”
Murder someone and you get released with no bail and just promise to show up for trial. Make fun of any of the Birdbrain administration and behold 15 years in prison.
Well it wasn’t really a COVID19 joke. His “joke” was that the cops were ordered to shoot the infected on sight. I don’t that deserves a raid, but it’s definitely not going to make the cops happy. Never make a joke about cops shooting people on sight if you’re in their jurisdiction.
We need to stop these SWAT style raids. They are purely for intimidation. Where they may be necessary they should be signed off on by a judge, mayor or governor. Whichever is appropriate.
A joke is defined as anything a protected member of society says or does, including threats, slander, lying and blackmailing.
A major felony is defined as anything a White/Christian/conservative/Republican says or does, including telling jokes.
I don’t recognize this country. My grandparents sacrificed everything to come here because it was the Land of Liberty. It’s more like the Soviet Union in Gulag Archipelago.
Well there really aren’t laws against yelling fire in a crowded theater. The laws are about making false claims that cause harm. Penn and Teller had a routine about it, Penn is juggling torches and then has “the worst accident you can possibly have” catches it by the lit end, drop that and the other 2 and starts yelling fire over and over while walking slowly off stage to grab an extinguisher walk back and put them out. As he says “showing his commitment to the 1st amendment by yelling fire in a crowded theater”. Of course the audience knows what’s happening, nobody freaks out, no harm happens.
Falsely yell fire in a theater and there’s a rush to the exits and somebody gets hurt, THEN you’re in trouble.
Bkmk
” a dozen or so sheriff’s deputies wearing bullet-proof vests descended upon Waylon Bailey’s home in Rapides Parish, Louisiana...and arrested him for...a zombie-themed joke [he made] about COVID-19.”
Stuff like this is proof that the police are not your friends.
College “professors” and democrat allies openly call for the murder of whites all the time. Yet nothing.
