Indeed. Just look at the way the lefties Donald Trump for his skin tone!
Before I retired at the university library I always signed up for the Martin Luther King Day events. Starting with the Black National Anthem and proceeding through educational sessions and discussions. About 7-8 hours. Probably 10% or fewer white employees of the university were going to them when I retired. Maybe 75% twenty years earlier.
One session. A young black woman assistant professor stood by a white board and a PowerPoint or Visme screen. She showed examples of old statements.
One was Dr.King saying all people should be listened to equally for their ideas and everyone should have equal rights.
She said: “In Dr.King’s time that would have been a good thing to say back then but today it is not. It does not acknowledge that ‘equally’ doesn’t bring any special weight for persons of color who were traditionally overlooked. Equality means they are still getting less than whites are.”
I’m always make curious by these comparisons of an martyred hero to current trends - and wonder if MLK would have been similarly ‘corrupted’ over time, as his contemporaries appear to have been.
What a bizarre way of thinking. Equality means getting less than whites?
Thsse activist types today have no clue how to apply Dr. King’s message to today’s world.
Race baiting and poverty pimping is a multi billion dollar a year enterprise. We Need RACISM!!! to keep it alive.
“Equality means they are still getting less than whites are.”
Yup—what she is saying is to get equality a “final solution” for white people is needed....
To them “Equality”, means making whites slaves to “get even”.
One speaker I saw was a young man who said Dr.King was given respect by more impatient leaders of other factions including the outright Marxist ones. He said they knew he had a role with moderates like Roy Wilkins, Whitney M. Young Jr. and A. Philip Randolph and he met with the H.Rap Brown, Stokely Carmichael and Malcolm X types each of them knowing that they all had a role to play. The moderates could say “don’t let those hotheads take over” and Congress would listen.
We don’t have many people with the clarity and presence of Martin Luther King today. Actually, none. I can’t think of anyone alive today that I would put in the same category as Martin Luther King.
Unspoken but horrible and true. That game is playing out now.
MLK was a womanizing Communist.
And now it’s time for character assassination. Have at it.
Nonsense, King was a Commie coddling Socalist.
More character assassination. Thanks.
Apparently we aren’t allowed to say anything favorable about Martin Luther King, here on Free Republic. Who knew?
Nope straight facts. He led the black community astray with his faulse Social justice gospel.
There are a lot of angry people here who crap in everybody’s breakfast bowl. King, FDR. JFK, Reagan, anyone you like or ever liked will be quickly criticized. No one is good enough for them. Some of them will go so far as rooting against conservative candidates in favor of the establishment.
Ignore them. Don’t respond to their venom and trash. You don’t know them and you never have to.
The only venom I have is that mlk jr was one of the faulse teachers the Book pfJude writes about.
Thanks. There do seem to be some really negative people here sometimes.
It’s hard to seriously discuss the legacy of Martin Luther King, when someone drops these one liners which supposedly cancel out anything the man did in his life.
