A century-old water main broke under Seventh Avenue in Midtown, flooding streets and effectively suspending number 1, 2 and 3 subway service through Manhattan.

The 20-inch main broke at Seventh Avenue at West 40th Street, just above the Times Sq 42nd St subway station, which quickly flooded just after 3 a.m. Tuesday.

The water flowed south through the subway system to the 14th Street station, where it settled above the rail.

Number 1, 2 and 3 subway service was "severely disrupted in Manhattan" through the morning commute, creating a travel nightmare for many New Yorkers.

I hope they didn’t depend on any of those “racist sexist white men” to fix it.

Maybe Republicans will be blamed, for not granting enough “resources” aka money, to New York City to upgrade these century old water mains.

ah yes. Brings back memories of President Ford opposing federal funds to bail out New York City from severe financial problems in the 1970s. The media reaction was that Ford told the city to drop dead.

Typical oversimplification of the issue by the media.

Parts of the system are almost two centuries old:

My favorite part of the article:

“fluoride is added to help prevent tooth decay”

Flouride is like the Vaxxes—”follow the science” turned out to be pay off everybody in sight and hide the ball:

You know they’ll blame someone. After all, if it had been built correctly a century ago it wouldn’t have broken. /s

No, he really said that. I heard it. He said it on the Johnny Carson show. The NY Daily News wouldn't print it if he hadn't said it, that would have been fake news.

More on flouridation from the Harvard Public Health Magazine article:

“U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention named community water fluoridation one of the 10 great public health achievements of the 20th century.

But many experts now question the scientific basis for the intervention.....”

CDC was bad news many decades ago and they are bad news now.

Was reading the comments on a YouTube vid showing the MTA fixing the turnstiles so people couldn’t sneak passed without paying. The vast majority said that poor people have no choice but to cheat the fare and anyway the subway should be free. After all it’s ‘public transportation’.

Not enough money? Defund the military and defund the police. My taxes in rural Missouri should pay for New Yorkers to move around town for free.
