GOP presidential candidate Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis on Monday directed $1 million to bolster security at a historically Black college near the site of what authorities deemed a racially motivated shooting that killed three Black people at a Dollar General in Jacksonville over the weekend. The governor also pledged $100,000 to help the families of those shooting victims.
The announcement comes a day after DeSantis was met with boos at a Jacksonville vigil for the victims Sunday.
"Also, per the request at yesterday's vigil, we're able to do $100,000 to the charity that is supporting the victims families," DeSantis added. "And those funds are all coming from Volunteer Florida. So we're going to continue to work with those folks in the days and weeks ahead."

C'mon, Ron, you know better!
You need to update your tagline. You hate Trump. 🤣
Wrong. I love Trump now that he has taken the gloves off, I really love him. I prefer him pissed off and ready to destroy the marxists.
Right@@@!!!!
That wasn't pandering. That was 28D chess.
It was fine.
Well l hope he wasn’t because if anything it will cost Him votes
DeSantis leaning voter here, but this was wrong... Not afraid to point out flaws in DeSantis. Just as Trump folks should remember Trumps big payola to Historic Black colleges.
Back in the day, there was an article on FR about how the government should not pick disasters/causes to fund with taxpayer funds. It was rightfully pointed out that a house fire in one town was just a tragic as a disaster in another town. It wasn’t the government’s job to pick which got funding.
Time has ate the article... but the old article on FR was called “Davy Crockett: Government role in Charity is not in Constitution and Why !
Dead Link.... http://www.freerepublic.com/forum/a3a56e63f2e63.htm
Link with some of the same information (but not as detailed as the old FR article that I so loved).

DeSantis......not in ‘24, not in ‘28, , not in ‘32, not ever.
Florida has no income tax. If you knew what you were talking about you'd have known that already.
Why would you send $1m to bolster security at a black college or any college for that matter let alone $100k for the families?
That is not the governments job. Governments job is to prevent this shit from happening by enforcing laws. There’s murders in Florida, like any state, daily. Where’s all the money for those folks and protection money for their families?
There isn’t any because that’s not the governments job. This was nothing more than a really dumb political stunt.
Why not give $700 to every black person in Florida? Robert L. Peters thinks that’s a good strategy for attracting votes. /s
In one sentence you say it’s not the governments job to protect schools but in the next sentence you say it’s the governments job to prevent tragedies like this.
It’s just amazing. If trump does something, he’s a genius. If someone else does the same thing, it’s the dumbest thing anyone has ever done. It’s a cult.
It’s the governments job to hunt these freaks down and exterminate them with extreme prejudice. I don’t care why someone does something like this just kill them. If the government did that, you wouldn’t this shxt anywhere near as often.
It IS NOT the governments job to hand out $1M to secure a college. Think about it... Why not hand out a $1M dollars to every college, high school, grade school, preschool, senior citizens homes, stores, restaurants, bars etc.
This was a political stunt to garner black votes, nothing more and a bad one... he got booed if you remember.
The government hands out billions of dollars a year to colleges for security. Trump gave HBCUs an unprecedented amount of taxpayer dollars. What you’re saying is that you just don’t want money going to colleges. And that’s fine if it’s your opinion. It’s just not reality.
Trump did the same thing.
The government hands out billions of dollars a year to colleges...
Agree but the colleges use it for whatever they want.
