There’s nothing “convenient” about trading a few cents savings per year per ceiling fan for the loss of thousands of jobs. That’s a “crucial fact” that the dullards at DOE “conveniently failed to mention.”
The DOE has proposed new standards for gas stoves, ovens, washing machines, refrigerators, air conditioners, dishwashers, and other household appliances in recent months in a maniacal effort to cut a few cents from our electric bills. Even combined, the savings amount to far less than other actions the government could take — like deregulating parts of the electric industry that are overburdened with rules. That action would save far more than the government’s single-minded desire to regulate every aspect of our lives.
Aren’t all these restrictions (gas stoves, backup generators, light bulbs....) perfect fodder for TV ads blasting the Dems?
Not to mention the takeovers of children’s education that parents resent increasingly.
Like “law and order” for the Nixon-Agnew campaign, the loss of simple freedoms in America should be in TV ads.
Yay! My new eco-friendly fan has the wind power of a dry fart but I'm saving $2/year on my utility bills!
Thanks Joe Biden!
Unelected DOE employees are able to put laws in place? Isn’t that the job of elected legislators?
the new fans are real energy savers
you have to spin them by hand
save the erf!
Robinette’s on a roll. Cutting our alcohol consumption, regulating our ceiling fans, pushing fake vaccines again…
Somebody change his diaper, give him his pudding and put him to bed.
The US Department Of Controlling Every Aspect Of Our Lives
Legislation without representation.
Doesn’t that go against the Constitution’s separation of powers?
My bet, these fans won’t save anything. Like our 3’stage HVAC didn’t use any less power than our old 1 speed unit. I plotted 12 months of power use verses degree days on each unit and could not see any difference in electrical power used. The 3 stage HVAC system cost several thousand more than the single stage units available at the time but our no longer availabie or so I’ve been told. An HVAC tech told me they call these new multi-stage units “green speed”.
What are they going to force people to do to a ceiling fan to make it more efficient?
I have those fans with the ornate, carved wood blades and oil rubbed bronze casings. Can’t imagine they’re very efficient at all. Don’t care either. They push air. They work.
What ceiling fan manufacturer is behind this? With the stupid ban on traditional light bulbs, it was GE and Sylvania lobbying kongress b/c they couldn’t compete.
That does it! I’m scrapping that old, inefficient, energy-wasting ceiling fan and installing a new central air conditioner! That’ll save lots!!!
Ceiling fans used to last 20 years or more. Now they want to add even more complex electronics to make them more efficient. Problem is that with complexity comes more failures.
Plan on replacing these new ones every year or two.
It will cut electricity costs by less than $3 per year, but will add $75 to the cost of the fan.
