So why didn’t Mary Jo Kopechne’s family sue? How easy then would it have been for them?
I had to look up the specifics. The family received $90,000 from Kennedy and $50,000 from insurance….Also, they were permitted to keep their lives…
Edward Kennedy, of course, continued to serve in the Senate, much to the glee of the media.
Paid off, $500K was the sum I was told, to get her buried without autopsy, a huge sum in those days.
They were paid off, no doubt, like Seth Rich’s family.
“So why didn’t Mary Jo Kopechne’s family sue?”
Seriously? LOL!
When one priest came to visit (”console”?) them, he was an emissary of the Kennedy Crime Family and passed on an offer they couldn’t refuse, i.e., STFU and you get to live. Also $$$.
I worked near Wilkes-Barre, PA, in ‘68 - ‘71. Some of my co-workers had gone to school with MJK. Also, W-B is a small town at heart and everybody knew everybody else. It seemed to be common knowledge. Perhaps it was rumor, but it was consistent.
That’s easy - they were bought off with a healthy sum from the Kennedy family.
They were good democrates who took the settlement offer.
They probably were offered and early on settlement. to keep everything hush-hush.
Kennedys paid them off.
The Kreepy Kennedy Klan paid them off, quite handsomely. It's called "hush money"; the very wealthy often use it to make scandals go away. It's not illegal ... just sleazy.
