“The evangelicals have been solidly behind Trump since he proved himself during his administration. But in the 2016 caucuses, they were solidly behind Cruz. At the caucus I attended, I had to listen to those holier-than-thou types badmouthing Trump like they were auditioning for MSNBC.

What do I mean by “Churchianity types”? Put bluntly, Calvinists. Their stronghold is Orange City and their leader is Bob Vander Plaats who fancies himself leader of evangelicals.”

It doesn’t matter what Plaats “fancies himself as”. He doesn’t represent the Christian right who support Trump. Don’t paint all Christians with such a broad brush. We are just as divided on issues as the rest of the nation and the world is (not that that is a good thing). And as far as any “holier-than-thou” types, you can see that type anywhere and in any spectrum of politics or religion.

Thanks for the splain.

No problem. Plaats is a nevertrumper. I call his religion churchianity as he worships money & power, not Christ. He’s the type of religious phony that gives Christians and Evangelicals a bad name.

He hits up candidates for money for his group’s endorsement and he is an open borders type— GOPe grifter with a thin veneer of religiosity.

“In 2018, he published an opinion piece in The New York Times titled “Cruelty at the Border Is Not Justice” in which he characterized the Trump administration family separation policy as “unconscionable” and “inexcusable.”

“The most recent IRS 990 reveals that in 2020, he was paid $190,000 as head of his organization. The next highest employee earned less than half of that amount.”

Post Debate Poll: Trump 61, DeSantis 9; Trump 44, Biden 41; Only Three Percent of Democrats Want Trump as GOP Nominee
Aug. 25, 2023 5:00 pm

A New York Post Post – Leger poll taken after the GOP presidential debate this week shows President Trump crushing his closest primary rival, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, 61 to 9 percent while topping Joe Biden 44 to 41 percent in a general election matchup.

But but but but our good friends at Faux news are saying that Ronnie is surging. Maybe Murdoch has to have a wood shed discussion with somebody. Our good friends at Faux news wouldn’t lie would they?

So on top of being a fake Christian, he’s a typical leftist ...ie a liar. Since we all know that the separation policy at the border started under Obama, who had those cages built and utilized.

Haha, oh yeah, this is a real. DeSantis Needs to go back to FL and study how to run a campaign and while he’s at it, discover what he really believes and not just parrot talking points handed to him. Simply put, not ready for prime time.

Exactly! It’s all virtue signalling.

A lot of these “Conservative Christians” in the NW part of Iowa own hog confinements, egg production facilities, and similar labor intensive operations that rely exclusively on cheap (illegal) labor.

If Trump was successful in enforcing our borders, they would have had to pay competitive wages. The leaders of these so-called “Christian Conservative” organizations trash Trump for his messy past personal life, but the real reason is that Trump cut into their bottom line. And, since the average Christian voter who may have nothing to gain from cheap illegal labor is low-info (like many Americans), they just go along with what “faith leaders” tell them.

It’s the same reason that Justin Amash had a personal vendetta against Trump. Amash claimed that Trump was immoral, etc. The real reason was Amash’s family businees, Michigan Industrial Tools, had their factories in China and Trump’s tarrifs crushed his business interests.

When they say “follow the money”, they ain’t kiddin. It’s always all about the $$$ and the greed of some people is the only thing that powers and shapes their political stance.

We’ve seen the cretins lie about their motives for decades and we recognize it for what it is... BS. Especially their mantra of “it’s for the children”. It’s for their wallet and bank accounts. As proven by how many corrupt politicians now have many mansions on a salary that would never be able to afford such luxury.

At least DeSantis took on Disney.

Whoopdee-doo. DeSantis went after the RCID (not Disney). He basically went after a homeowner's association who wasn't abiding by their charter. Huge victory there. Earth-shattering. Maybe DeSantis should be doing something about the insurance crisis going on in Florida but nah he's too busy running for third place.

Odd question. All I know is that I am not voting for anyone that supports funding the war in Ukraine. That's my red line.
