MILFORD, Connecticut (AP) – Sandwich chain Subway said Thursday it will be sold to the private equity firm Roark Capital.
Terms of the deal weren’t disclosed. Earlier this week, The Wall Street Journal reported that Roark was offering around $9.6 billion for Subway, which is privately owned.

Subway is 90% bread. If I want a good sub, I find a joint with an Italian name.
Surprisingly, Publix subs were good when I got them in the 2000’s.
I eat Publix subs every now and then, and they are pretty good...............
Blech.
Every time I walk past a Subway, I smell the same smell that was on the planes when we had meal service. Preservatives? Not sure what it is but it gives me a huge headache that lasts for quite a while.
That along with the videos of the yutes making sandwiches on a toilet seat after walking on the lettuce did it for me. I would rather go hungry.
All the Subways around here are franchises. They’ll probably get stiffed again.
And most of the rest is lettuce...
I haven’t stepped into an arbys in decades....the wife convinced me to get a takeout last week from one down the road.
It truly was a third world experience.
The restaurant and food were so disgusting I felt compelled to write a scathing online review, file a state health department complaint to get the place inspected and file a seperate complaint with arbys corporate.
Not to mention the (c)rap music coming from the kitchen was so loud I had trouble placing my order.
I hope subway can help......but I doubt it.

Not all of them are like that. Too bad yours was, I actually like their brisket sandwiches.

Ditto. The Chicken Salad Sandwich is very good, but only available a couple months out of the year. Typically during the Spring. The Gyros are ok.
The inspector called me and said she was going to do the inspection that day.....she called me later to tell me she couldn’t get into the dining room because it was locked. As strange as it sounds that seems to be a common thing with fast food restaurants these days, locking up the dining room during normal hours.
She did gain access to the kitchen, the report revealed several violations, two were high priority and will require another inspection.
That’s the last time I go there that’s for sure.
Subways sandwiches are disgusting. Last time I ate a few (3-4) was more than 25 years ago. Their meatball hero. Never ate the fake tuna.
Neither appeals to me; they’re fast “food” after all. And the grade of apathetic teens they hire just turns me off even more, considering the “short cuts” they might take with stuff I’m planning to consume.
I’ll grab an Arby’s in a pinch, but only in a good neighborhood with WHITE people working the ropes. I have one like that near me and they go above and beyond with their courtesy and professionalism.
