Zelensky: We Didn’t Do It, but Reported Prigozhin Death ‘Will Definitely Help Us’

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky denied any involvement in the plane crash north of Moscow on Wednesday that reportedly killed Wagner Private Military Company (PMC) chief Yevgeny Prigozhin, telling reporters “everyone realizes” who the true culprit is.

Prigozhin and several other senior members of Wagner appeared on the flight manifest of an Embrarer-made private jet that crashed in Tver Oblast, north of Moscow, on Wednesday. Russian authorities confirmed that Prigozhin’s name was on the manifest, appeared to confirm he was on board, and proceeded to claim all ten people on the plane had died. They had not, however, officially declared Prigozhin dead at press time.

Putin won’t have to kill The Gay Actor.
His own Ukraine people will string him up.

Zelensky had every reason in the world to hope this guy stayed alive and continued his verbal and physical mutinies. NATO would love to see a number of guys being that disruptive for Putin. Wagner will soldier on with a little less anti Putin drama than before.

Because the Ukrainian people have no interest in killing their heroic president.
Do you think they do just because you made up that fantasy?

Hmmm. Most such organizations take their character from their leader. Especially the founder. Rules of hierarchy you know.

Wagner was created by Prigozhin or Utkin, and its character was notably like theirs, pragmatic and practical. Anti-bureaucratic, to say the least. A gang of pirates, doing whatever it took, on the spot. Not the usual Russian military top-down approach.

Thats why they were better than the regular army. Their value was in their leaders, and their separate status from the state structure.

What is the short and long term goal here? When will the killing end? Is it only when the USA runs out of money? No peace talks. No compromise. No demilitarized zone.

One danger to all of us is if Russian leadership improves.
A Prigozhin in charge of the Russian MOD would have meant a more effective military, probably.

When one side or the other accepts a fundamental concession.

“Peace talks” only happen when the basic end state is acceptable to both sides. Any negotiation covers details.

The war is the negotiation.

Hardly. Let me know when the Wagner operatives who are active in Africa today or those training Belarus troops are called home because their fearless leader got killed. This could not have turned out better for Putin. That’s why Putin ensured it turned out that way.

Get real. The Russians have achieved everything they set out to do. They have moved at a measured pace with acceptable losses. Currently, they have the reserves to do anything they want to do in Ukraine. NATO has been stopped despite the catastrophic Ukrainian losses. I only wish we could replace our inept, traitorous, rainbow warrior leadership for Russian MILITARY officers, not disgusting social experiments. You’d best pray your children’s lives aren’t determined by who has the better military leadership, Russia or NATO.

I have no idea what Putin et al are going to do.
In re Africa, etc, I think it likely that in the matter of “unconventional” war, the successor unit to Wagner will not be as effective.
