House Judiciary Chair Jim Jordan launched a probe Thursday into Fulton County’s probe that resulted in charges against former President Donald Trump and 18 co-defendants for allegedly trying to overturn the 2020 election results.

Jordan, an Ohio Republican, asked Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis, a Democrat, to turn over all documents related to the case.

The letter comes hours before Trump is expected to surrender to the Fulton County jail.

"Was Fulton County DA Fani Willis working with Jack Smith? Was she communicating with the Executive Branch? Were any federal funds used in the investigation of President Trump?" Jordan posted on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter, when he announced his probe.

The state charges brought against Trump in Georgia are separate from the federal indictment brought against the former president in special counsel Jack Smith's two probes involving Trump's alleged mishandling of classified documents and his alleged attempt to overturn the 2020 election. Trump has pleaded not guilty to all federal criminal charges.

Oh good!
A new probe.
That should pretty well take care of that then.

3100+ counties all with DAs and 50 states each with an AG can charge a former president. That’s an issue Jordan should address and introduce legislation to legally protect presidents from local ongoing harassment.

McCarthy needs to grow a pair and stop all these incessant separate committees and combine into an impeachment committee for Biden, Garland and the Homeland idiot. They have way more than enough evidence.

House Judiciary Committee Chair Jim Jordan sent DA Willis a letter raising questions about
<><>whether she coordinated her probe with Biden’s US Justice Department,
<><> whether she coordinated w/ Special Counsel Jack Smith,
<><>and whether she used federal tax dollars in her investigation of Trump.

“The federal government has a substantial interest in the welfare of former presidents,” Jordan wrote in a five-page letter to Willis.

“And because this former president is a current candidate for that office, the indictment implicates another core federal interest: a presidential election,” Jordan said.

<><>Jordan raised concerns about Willis’ motivation in bringing the case against Trump

<><>Jordan asserted congressional authority to “probe whether former presidents are being subjected to politically motivated investigations and prosecutions.”

<><>Jordan also indicated that lawmakers could consider future legislation about the use of federal funds by state law enforcement.

Willis’s office did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
