A staggering 371 Americans have been charged with stealing roughly $836 million in COVID relief funds — including gang members who used the money to hire hitmen, the Justice Department announced Wednesday.
The charges were the result of a three-month-long joint investigation conducted by law enforcement agencies across the nation from May through July, according to the DOJ.
The department has focused on “bringing to justice those who stole from American businesses and families at a time of national emergency,” Deputy Attorney General Lisa Monaco said.
Sixty-three of those facing charges include gang members and defendants with connections to violent crimes.

Add to that no real oversight, or any punishment for mismanagement. “So your agency can’t account for $10 million? No big deal. Here’s authorization for another $100 million. Try to be a bit more careful next time.”
They found almost 1 BILLION in fraud after ONLY a THREE MONTH investigation. WOW, fraud must be easy to find.
Just Imagine if Law Enforcement Agencies exerted this same level of due diligence and INVESTIGATED THE JOEY BIDEN FAMILY. Can you even imagine what they would find? EVERYTHING Comer and friends outed so far would pale in comparison.
Doesn’t matter, Joey the Sniff is protected by Dems and DOJ thugs, so we just should be happy 371 “little” people may face justice instead of the BIGGEST RAT himself!!!!

Don’t see the problem here. COVID funds were meant to shore up jobs and businesses, which these enterprises did. “Hitman” is a job. That’s why the hirer always approaches the hitman and says “I gotta job for ya...”

Old news to me. Our neighborhood “ChiTown to Rockford to Freeport to Dubuque to Waterloo to Fort Dodge to Sioux City” drug dealer (known to the cops, but he’s a protected class) and his then-current squeeze were - maybe still are - both getting COVID paychecks since 2020 for nonexistent businesses. Their cover stories and filings were laughable.
If it only took three months, why did they wait two years to investigate it?
