I mean, has the world ever seen a weaker, more confused generation? I don’t think so.

What would you expect from the climate/Floyd/mask/vax generation?

Any song by Morrissey pretty much qualifies.

I don’t know. All my nephews’ kids seem to be OK. Maybe because they don’t sit around doing nothing but listening to sad songs.

My kids seem to be just fine. But that’s probably because we’ve got a faith in the Almighty, and we talk about issues that come up in school and social media. In other words, active parenting. We’re not perfect, but we’re not easing zombies either.

I can understand why they’re sad when you realize that the movie that represents their generation will be Barbie. Taylor Swift’s Kindergartener Rock will be the music that represents the Zero Gen. Ain’t lookin’ good for the history books.

Olivia Rodrigo has had five hit songs that I’ve heard so far. All five are about bad relationships. I wonder if she’ll ever come out with a happy song.

Here's a list someone put together of the 50 happiest songs.

https://swnsdigital.com/uk/2020/05/these-are-the-top-50-happiest-songs-ever-released/

I don't necessarily agree with the list at all. Although the no. 1 "Mr Blue Sky" is a pretty good choice.

There are no Gershwin or songs, so the list is already mostly crap right there. And what of Handel's "Happy happy" from Acid and Galatea?

The best sad songs are those that sound happy but which are tinged with melancholy. Burt Bacharach is the master of this.

The all-time happiest song that is a tale of woe is Gilbert Sullivan's one hit wonder: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D_P-v1BVQn8
