DeSantis made the remark in an interview with the Florida Standard, lamenting the label “RINO” given to him and others by many Trump supporters, who view him as a traitor for jumping into the presidential race prematurely.
“We have a strand in our party that views supporting Trump as whether you are a RINO or not. And so you could be the most conservative person since sliced bread. Unless you’re kissing his rear end, they will somehow call you a RINO,” DeSantis said. “Ultimately, a movement can’t be about the personality of one individual.”
He then targeted Trump supporters directly, telling the outlet, “Because if you’re not rooted in principle, if all we are is listless vessels that are just supposed to follow, whatever happens, to come down the pike on Truth Social every morning, that’s not going to be a durable movement.”
The comment, while perhaps as not as direct as Hillary Clinton’s infamous “basket of deplorables” remark, triggered similar reactions.
“Bold move for Ronda Santis to follow the Crooked Hillary Clinton strategy and begin attacking Trump supporters,” Donald Trump Jr. reacted, addressing the criticism head-on.
“Trump supporters aren’t ‘listless vessels,’ they just know a globalist fraud when they see one. That’s why your campaign is dying and @realDonaldTrump is surging!!!!” he exclaimed.

Maybe rabid, frenzied, populist even irrationally loyal. But certainly not listless. No one is saying "(sigh) well, I guess I'll vote for Trump if I'm not getting my earwax rotated on election day".
Even "deplorable " made more sense because Hillary and the Democrats did deplore us.
He doesn’t care if he wins. None of the conservative candidates do. They are getting paid under the table to help make sure Trump does not win.

I love Trump, period. I am not some over sensitive female who feels slighted every time someone hurts my little ol’ feelings. I have no idea what your excuse is for your massive overreaction.
This “listless” phrase took less than two seconds out of a 2+ minute response where DeSantis made some excellent points. Give the guy some credit. Now check you little hurt feelings at the door and man up. It’s a tough world out there! If you can’t handle this, you can’t handle much.

Trump supporters are about as "listless" as the Beatlemaniacs of the mid-sixties. In October, 2020, huge crowds lined the streets of Newport Beach, Calif. to see Trump's limousine go by (I was there). This was not a parade; Trump was in the Southland to visit a friend. Yet tens of thousands showed up just to see him go by. This sort of thing happens with rock stars, but never politicians.
You can cry to the Moderator like the Meatball supporter you are.

Hope DeSantis isn’t now imitating Trump — the grand master of name calling and personal attacks. Why can’t they just get together and publicly vow to stop this BS?
