A good idea Garden Island but simply not feasable.
Too many deep gulches, too far to go, too much blue rock...
Billions of $$ and years of work. And too many easements to get from people who just won’t allow them.
On the leeward side around Lahaina is mostly a gradual slope. The gulches and steep valleys are on the wet side, like the road to Hana and Iao Valley. Those areas don’t have brush fires. Underground power lines are all over the newer planned Maui golf course communities like Kapalua and Wailea.
