Wash the poop off US streets, and maybe put Canadian fires out…

The Atlantic Basin NHC graphic is looking like a spilled bag of Skittles.

I understand it likely will be A Tropical Storm by landfall - though wind and rain.

I wish one would could right up I-35. It is the only way to break the massive drought and heatwave in Texas. But, as is usual, the high pressure ridge will win out and just push the storm straight west into Mexico. Maybe it will break in October.

Sometimes the tropical storms can bring some good. Unfortunately, it was wind from a distant storm that fanned the flames in Maui.

From NWS in Las Vegas:

To reiterate what the previous forecast discussion noted,
this is a very unusual circumstance for our forecast area. Similar tropical systems from our past include: Norbert (2014), Nora (1997) and Kathleen (1976).

Once in a lifetime eh?

Current forecast indicates Hurricane Hilary will be a TS by the time it reaches the SW US.

Unusual—yes. In fact, I believe this is the first time I’ve posted a thread for a Pacific storm.

Am not familiar with winds in California and how they travel normally but a TS would bring some.

I’d be securing anything that could take off!

We already have good sized storms, too a large appearance spun off, in the Inland Empire Cities between the Salton Sea and Riverside, CA. I think that while the main eye will be reduced to just a Tropical Storm, the flash flooding damage will be very extensive south of Joshua Tree NP.

One nice thing, the Scientologists in Hemant will get hammered.

It looks like arid desert areas are in the path of Hilary, with flash floods a substantial probability.
