Republican presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy said China could invade Taiwan without major consequences from the U.S. once he has hypothetically attained the nation’s “semiconductor independence” in 2028.
Semiconductor independence: In an interview with conservative radio host Hugh Hewitt, Ramaswamy stressed the importance of semiconductors and why the U.S. should take aggressive action until the nation is able to produce its own. Ramaswamy noted that China would hypothetically not take the risk of aggressing towards Taiwan for his term “if we show we’re serious about [semiconductor independence].”

In 2022, China built over 1000 civilian ships. USA built less than 10.
In WW2, Japan was badly outclassed in terms of industrial capacity. But the Japs were way better off than the USA is now vs China.
This is what happens when a traitorous corporate and political elite outsource a country’s entire industrial base.
So the US military doesn’t have the industrial capacity behind it to defeat China, leaving aside the fact that the US military is now riddled with dysfunctional faggotry, environment worship and diversity incompetence.

Exactly. The America he envisions with no honor, shedding commitments as soon as they are not in our interests is antithetical to America as a moral Country.

Thank you for your service. But our philosophy on the use of American military power is quite different. Mine comes from the Constitution, and nowhere does it say we should maintain a huge standing army ready to be the world’s 911 when vaguely defined “interests” are at stake.
The American military should be used in the interests of the American people, and the American people only. Once the semi-conductor business has been relocated, which is well underway, the American people will not have interests in Taiwan sufficient to send young American men and women to die there.
As for our allies. We have NEVER demonstrated that they can count on us—Vietnam, Afghanistan, etc. We race in, tear the place up, and then when the situation becomes politically untenable, we leave.
Not to mention, Taiwan is not our ally. We have military sales agreements, but no alliance with Taiwan whatsoever. We do not even have formal diplomatic relations with Taiwan, much less any kind of official alliance.
This is the key point to remember. Vivek is superb at telling us what we want to hear. He is not perfect, and once in a while he slips up. He is pretty good at correcting his act when he does make a mistake.
He does not mean a single word of anything that he says.
He comes from a culture where deception and misdirection are extremely critical to personal success and even survival. That is basically every third-world country on the planet. Unfortunately, that is also the direction in which American and European culture is now heading.
Foreigners can do extremely well, exploiting what remains of "high-trust" culture in the West. There is plenty of loot still around for easy pickings and lots of natives who will hand it over willingly in exchange for some meaningless promises.
The problem isn't a new one. Our national founders required the President to be a "natural born citizen" for good reasons. Those are the same reasons Vivek should not be President of the United States.
And I still like most of the things he says. I would prefer to have a natural-born American citizen as President who will actually do those things.
Yes, in the voting booth as we will probably get to make that decision because no Court, nor the republican party in our case will make that decision. As I said, I will not vote for someone who is not a natural born citizen. And if I think that the person running could actually win, I will vote for a Democrat if that’s what it takes. At the end of the day a natural born US citizen will trump all other issues.
If you had read a little further into the history of the modern world - or maybe spent a bit more time in a combat arm - you would have seen that our interests include any tactically/strategic part of the world that affects our ability to fight to protect ourselves from enemy domination (and slaughter).
Such as Sea Lanes of Communication (SLOCs), sources of strategic minerals (necessary for manufacturing modern alloys for weapons and engines), and sea control. The Chinese have figured all of this out and are rapidly gaining control of the sea and land routes to conduct and resupply warfare through their "Belts and Roads Initiative".
Vietnam was fought in part to prevent an earlier attempt by the communist powers to control the seaways around Vietnam (look up "Straits of Malacca") which would have caused our allies in the region to lose their ability be supplied in event of war. Looking at the position of Taiwan on a map should show you how important its position is for the continued survival of Japan and the Philippines.
Now, if you somehow served in uniform without realizing any of this, it is disappointing.
At the end of the day, vote fraud in six major Democrat-controlled cities will trump all other issues.
Vivek and DeSantis are mostly pleasant distractions to occupy our time. The only way either one can be elected is if Joe Biden expires (from natural causes) and the Democrats cannot replace Harris in time. In that case, the "Deep State" will attempt to suborn the leading Republican candidate and get him under control. That might work.
If all else fails, the Democrats can start a nice big new war, or declare a "climate change emergency lockdown" or a "COVID-2024 improved epidemic emergency" and just install their preferred obedient candidate as President under "fortified and secured election procedures".
And afterwards, they will arrest and imprison the first 10,000 people who object. But most things will not go as planned or intended. "Unexpected consequences" are going to be a real bitch.

That does not really matter as much as you might suppose.
The essential purpose of the Constitution was to limit and restrain the powers of government. That purpose remains valid without regards to available technology then or now.
And the Constitution has failed that purpose.
More specifically, the people of this country have failed to maintain the limits and restraints on government power that were imposed by the structure of the Constitution. There is too much loot to be obtained by running bigger and more powerful government as an unstoppable engine of theft. Political arguments degenerate essentially into who gets to control the engine.
The founders were certainly wrong about the utility of State militias verses a regular standing army. Armies always beat militias unless the "militias" are solidly backed by foreign powers and military advisors.
The founders certainly never conceived of an American nation that would be a world power that maintained and required control of strategic trade resources in far-away places. Perhaps it was that success that has doomed the Constitutional purpose of restraining government power.
So what comes next? The story is "to be continued".
Implying that the Constitution is inherently isolationist is mendacious. Even George Washington warned in his fifth annual address to Congress that “if we desire to secure peace ... it must be known that we are at all times ready for war”.
