Hopefully it will affect the static heat wave that has piled on top of the rest of the country to bring some needed thermal relief.

It seems like every year California has their fire season, followed by their rain storms, followed by landslides on the burnt-out, no vegetation hill sides.

Oddly, I found this and copied it from the NWS in Las Vegas just now:

Hurricane Hilary continues to dominate the forecast interest across the Desert Southwest. Forecast tracks for Hilary remain very consistent run-to-run with regard to location with only subtle shifts westward, but have sped up somewhat with regard to timing.
Hurricane Hilary`s center of circulation will push northward along the western coast of Baja California, rapidly weakening as it moves over land. To reiterate what the previous forecast discussion noted, this is a very unusual circumstance for our forecast area. Similar tropical systems from our past include: Norbert (2014), Nora (1997),
and Kathleen (1976).

So, I call 🐂💨💩

It’s relative to the fact they now have such watches and warnings in place. It would not be the first ever if these systems have been in place the last time it was hit by tropical cyclones.

Yes. They exchange the title “hurricane” and “typhoon” if they cross over that line. I believe one went back and forth a couple of times.

We’ve seen storms off the Baja Peninsula.

As others on this thread have suggested, all the hype on this one may be fear porn. Still, Hillary may bring lots of rain to CA. Hope there won't be much flooding...

The weather forecast on tv here is about lots of rain.....
What rain? Less then 4” is not a lot and this from a hurricane / tropical storm 🌀
In the desert above Santa Clara they predict 4” to 6”
I am above Burbank less then 20 miles.
We have had more rain in the past and just from a normal rain storm.

Gerald is covering Hurricane Hilary on his Agenda Free YouTube Channel.

Those who do not give real caution to the Flood/Flash Flood WARNINGS will be putting themselves in Life-Threatening situations. The NWS has said these flash floods will develop quicker than expected in the Warning Zones!!!

THE WEAKENING OF THE HURRICANE WINDS -—DOES NOT-— REDUCE THE RAINFALL HAZARDS.
