We have friends and family in Texas. They might not have state income tax, but the property taxes are high. Also pay personal property taxes on vehicles each year.
After you retire and your income decreases, you still have the high taxes.

Not true. You pay a license renewal fee. About $80.00. Same as most states.
Some states have both. State income taxes AND peoperty taxes.
We do not pay yearly personal property taxes on automobiles. Just $75 for a window sticker.

Don’t disagree that property taxes are too high, and they will vote in Nov to up the personal homeownership exemption to $100K... but will still have a tax bill over $6000.

You never owned a home in New Jersey have you? I moved from Jersey to Texas, my property tax went from over 15k a year to just under 5k. Same size house and lot and in a gated community.
