Had the USSC done its job and heard the cases brought before it over the election, none of this dumpster fire would be going on today.

I would caution anyone who thinks the USSC has any business getting involved in these election disputes.

For one thing, the Federal courts have very limited authority over STATE election proceedings.

Secondly … as a separate branch of government, the USSC should never have the power to be involved in selecting candidates for the other two branches.

Lastly … if authority over election disputes is ceded to the Federal courts, we are likely to end up with a single set of national legal standards for every aspect of voting (registration, early voting, etc.). You can be damn sure that the loosest possible standards will be adopted across the board.
