What constitutional right is being eroded? Be specific, please.

Article IV, Section 2, Clause 1:

The Citizens of each State shall be entitled to all Privileges and Immunities of Citizens in the several States.

The Supreme Court has long recognized the right to travel from one state to another under the Privileges and Immunities Clause,1 as well as other constitutional provisions.2 For example, the Court held that a state could not constitutionally limit access to medical care to its own residents, and deny access to nonresidents, without interfering with the right to travel.3

In Saenz v. Roe, the Court characterized the constitutional “right to travel” as having “at least three different components”:

It protects [1] the right of a citizen of one State to enter and to leave another State, [2] the right to be treated as a welcome visitor rather than an unfriendly alien when temporarily present in the second State, and, [3] for those travelers who elect to become permanent residents, the right to be treated like other citizens of that State.4

While the Court did not expressly identify the constitutional basis of the first component, it noted that the Articles of Confederation’s privileges and immunities clause explicitly protected the “free ingress and regress to and from any other State.”5 As for the second component of the right to travel, the Court found it to be “expressly protected by the text of the Constitution” through the Privileges and Immunities Clause.6 Saenz connected the third component of the right to travel to the Fourteenth Amendment’s Privileges or Immunities Clause.7

https://constitution.congress.gov/browse/essay/artIV-S2-C1-13/ALDE_00013789/[’travel’]

And we DO NOT want to let it be compromised in any form or fashion for ANY reason even if it sounds good right now because it “sounds” selective. It will absolutely be used against EVERYONE in the near future.

We need to wise up and quit falling for their scams. It will be bait and switch, you can absolutely count on it...

Does an ILLEGAL ALIEN have the right to travel within these United States?

Does an ILLEGAL ALIEN have the right to even exist within these United States?

I've been saying for years that I believe that I can fix the illegal alien problem with three laws:

1. If you are an illegal in America and we find you, you are going to jail.

2. If you are an illegal in America and you have a job and we find you, you and your boss are going to jail.

3. If you are an illegal in America and you rent or own a home and we find you, you and your landlord or mortgage lender are going to jail.

Then clear a path to the boarder or be run over by self deporting illegal aliens..

Don’t focus on what the law SAYS it’s about. Focus on what the law does. We have lots of laws that say they have a good reason, but in practice the law stinks. Just look at RICO, supposedly to stop the mob, but the mob hardly ever gets targeted.

There’s no way to enforce this law without ID check being part of basically every traffic stop. Not just for the driver, but everybody in the car.

Or, as we used to say when pointing out a law is getting fascist “your papers please”.

That ain’t good.

“Does an ILLEGAL ALIEN have the right to travel within these United States?

Does an ILLEGAL ALIEN have the right to even exist within these United States?”

There are already laws in place to control that and they are not being enforced. There is absolutely no reason for more legislation on this matter.

This will not stop at just illegal aliens. It is not about Aliens. It is just the excuse to justify total control over travel. Once the Constitution is compromised it will be abused and extended to include citizens.

Anyone who knows anything at all about the agenda of our New World Government could spot this power/control grabbing scam from a mile away. And if looks like we are dumb enough to welcome our own end demise with open arms. And that is exactly what they want us to do. They are counting on us to be too stupid to see through their plan.

And apparently it looks like most of us are indeed...

Back in the early 1990s, I heard the same arguments against Voter ID laws.

STRAWMAN!!!!

Meanwhile, if you’re in Florida make sure you always have your papers. It would suck for the driver to go to jail cause you can’t prove you’re not there illegally.

STRAWMAN!!!!

Not even remotely. Don't try to weasel out of this. History is ALWAYS relevant.

Meanwhile, if you’re in Florida make sure you always have your papers.

If you're DRIVING anywhere within these United States, that's already the case.

It would suck for the driver to go to jail cause you can’t prove you’re not there illegally.

Who carries the burden of proof?

Even worse... It will legalize harrassment of law abiding citizens. It will remove all requirements for probable cause. “Looked like an illegal person” will be a catch all excuse to pull over anyone they like without probable cause. And to then search and ID everyone in the car including downloading their phones as “part of their investigation”.

As you say, this is Nazi stuff here. If there is any way at all this can be abused you can absolutely bet it will be. The inconvenience to law abiding citizens being harassed without cause is PLENTY reason to oppose this concept!

Absolutely a strawman. “I’ve heard that argument applied incorrectly” is the very definition of a strawman.

This law checks PASSENGERS.

You do in this case. You’re going to have to present your papers to prove you’re legal.

So, basically driving illegals to work is now a crime.
Interesting.

Yup. Especially when you keep in mind 2 things:
1 - profiling is illegal, so they can’t just be demanding the ID of “brown people”
2 - and let’s face it white people do overstay visas

If this stands then nobody should get in a car anywhere in Florida without proper paperwork.

Somebody upthread mentioned public transportation. Of course they were presenting it as other options for illegals. But it would be interesting to check the fine print on the law. Could a bus driver wind up in jail if one of the passengers is illegal? Cab drivers? Uber? That’s tyranny for you.

Sounds like an excuse to make demanding the ID of everyone in the car part of a normal traffic stop. If a democrat did this we’d hate it.

These aren't normal times. The country has been invaded. In such times, reasonable measures to control the invasion make sense. End the invasion and life returns to normal. The problem is once the illegals cross the border, they become protected legally somehow. That's strange.

Absolutely NOT a strawman. Similar situation, similar argument.

You might be surprised to know that I was quite sympathetic to that argument back in the early 1990s. Even made it myself. I’m sort of curious as to what YOU were doing in the early 1990s, but not curious enough to really care ...

Since then, I have seen the problem of illegal aliens running amok become an existential threat to the very existence of these United States. Illegal aliens are the bad guys’ tools to destroy us. Perhaps you see things differently.

“Back in the early 1990s, I heard the same arguments against Voter ID laws.”

Nope, this is totally different. I agree with voter ID. If you are not registered to vote you should not vote.

Nope, this is very much the same issue.

If you are not registered to vote you should not vote.

If you are in these United States illegally, you should not BE in these United States.

What is the jail time for a Florida realtor who sells a house to an illegal alien?

What is the jail time for a Florida lender who writes a mortgage for an illegal alien?

What is the jail time for a Florida judge who refuses to enforce existing criminal statutes when an illegal is charged with a crime?

What is the jail time for a Florida sheriff who looks the other way when an illegal commits trespass and criminal mischief on private property?

What is the jail time for a supervisor of elections who knowingly allows illegal aliens to vote in federal elections in his county only because they have a valid Florida drivers license?

C'mon Ron, get on the stick.

It already has been, but is not enforced.
