Ikea, a global home furnishing company with Swedish roots, is making a big bet on San Francisco’s beleaguered downtown.
The retailer now based in the Netherlands will open an 85,000-square-foot store at 945 Market Street in South of Market, the San Francisco Chronicle reported. A grand opening is set for Aug. 23.
Ikea’s arrival “is a tremendous boost,” declared Mayor London Breed, who has wooed the company since 2018.

Shows that there is no bottom limit to stupid!!!!
Ikea CEO Jesper Brodin with his husband.
It’s harder to shoplift a sofa.
Along with kindling if mobs set the building on fire at a protest, the legs and arms of wooden furniture can be turned into bludgeon sticks.
Might want to see if they can lure Dylan Mulvaney away from the Queer Beer company....go full stupid.
The smash & grab looters/shop, furniture lifters are securing their box trucks as we speak.
So he likes Swedish meatballs.
They’re safe. Who wants to still furniture that takes days to put together, especially when parts are missing?
And there ya go. A picture is worth.
And exactly where are the “homes” to be furnished? By people moving into SF and Oakland to settle down? Rental trucks are going in the other direction.
I hope Ikea makes enough profit in other locations that they can write off the loss in SF.
People are fleeing SF so let’s open a store.
LOL
Have some of their mac and cheese and settle down.
That’s some funny stuff right there!
And especially if you can’t read English, or follow printed instructions.
Wow, that’s dumb!!!!
Mayor Breed....
Funny oddity is the gay slang term for heterosexuals is “the breeders.”
Very stupid! Someone at Ikea will be fired over this. Congested traffic, very little parking, and private traffic on Market Street is banned. So customers will have to lug their goods blocks away to where they parked, past legions of homeless transients. And those bums will be messing up the bathrooms, eating area, and sleeping on the furniture. There will be problems.
