The California Senate will be honoring the 50th anniversary of hip hop Monday, and particularly West coast hip hop. The Legislature regularly honors cultural events as well as myriad leaders each year. But this one has a blemish.
Sen. Steven Bradford (D-Los Angeles) authored Senate Concurrent Resolution 81 honoring hip hop for 50 years of groundbreaking music and style, and names famous hip hop stars Run-DMC, Queen Latifah, and LL Cool J, Salt-N-Pepa, and hip hop artists from California such as Dr. Dre, Ice Cube, Tupac Shakur, Snoop Dogg.
Tupac Shakur was murdered in a driveway shooting in 1996

If you are a woman and a Democrat you are dumber than a sack of hammers
That’s more than half of them. Repeal the 19th Amendment.
LOL! Don’t call that crap music. IT’S NOISE.
Dr. Dre has atoned for his and publicly apologized.
Tupac had to have been embarrassed being shot in a “driveway shooting.”
I was of the understanding it was on the Vegas strip…
Then I must apologize for thinking that Dr Dre is a horrific pile of crap who brutalizes women and realized that he needed to protect his commercial brand. On the other hand I still think he is a cowardly pile of crap.
You might think he's a pile of crap, that's certainly your opinion. My opinion is that he's one of the greatest musicians and producers of all time (He actually uses live instruments and singers in his work, yeah, I know you don't care, rap is crap, blah blah blah)
Bring back Doo Wop!
It does seem surprising to me, that someone on a conservative site like this likes rap , but you’re entitled to your opinion.
The 19th amendment shouldn’t have even been passed.
Indeed.

5 Hip-Hop Songs that Promote Mistreatment of Women
Media Milwaukee
Dec 24, 2017 — Hip-hop music continues to promote physical abuse towards women.
The violence they spewed at white people and cops was celebrated, however.
Dr Dre lyrics:
“All you n-as out there, Take your guns that you using to shoot each
other
And start shooting these b-h-ass
mother-f-king police. That’ll impress a mother-f-king n-a like
me.”
Choosing to like a particular genre of music is a matter of taste, says the modicum musicologist.
That being said, the messages of rap have expanded over the last decade or so, as performers from MAGA-right (Stoney Dudebro) and Christian (E-knock, Flame) are making their mark alongside the "usual suspects" of rap. As a definite middle-to-highbrow in classical and quality non-classical music it is not necessarily my cup of matcha, but I am impressed by the message.
Always thought hip hop was junk
