Video posted Semafor reporter Shelby Talcott shows Florida Governor Ron DeSantis on Saturday campaigning for the 2024 Republican presidential nomination by shoving sticks in hardboiled eggs at the Iowa State Fair.
The video shows DeSantis more engaged in how to prepare the eggs than engaging with voters coming up to take the eggs. In turn, the voters don’t seem that interested in DeSantis. Granted, it is a thirty-three second video, however no one engages DeSantis in campaign talk, with one person calling out, “We’re just here for the eggs!” One woman who said, “Thank you!” to DeSantis was given only a glancing smile in return as DeSantis stayed focused on preparing the eggs. Another woman who said “Thank you!” barely got a look in her direction from DeSantis.

I would rather DeSantis had focused on the complicity of Republican leadership - perhaps his own - in pushing “Operation Warp Speed” which has reportedly resulted in the premature deaths of thousands of Americans.

Trump was the twice the easy pick of Iowans voting for president, effectively making him a popular incumbent. Aside from DeSantis’ appearance as awkward, he just wasn’t going to take a place like the Iowa State Fair by storm.
RDS intends to meet voters face-to-face in all 99 Iowa counties, a tactic with some success for other pols, but has also abruptly ended others hopes.

Trump has a better shot at winning the R primary... Maybe. DeSantis has a WAY better shot at winning an election.
I support and supported Trump 100% but he can never keep his silly, stupid, unpresidential mouth shut and I worry about LOSING THE ELECTION to his goofball mouth.
