These UNTRUTHs are epically at odds with the spirit of the candidate’s platform and cry out for correction.
(LifeSiteNews) — The GOP presidential hopeful who kicked off his campaign with a declaration of 10 foundational TRUTHs beginning with “God is real” recently strayed from truth when he declared that homosexuality is “hardwired” at birth and that the burgeoning number of transgendered individuals are folks who are “really just gay.”
The claims were made by candidate Vivek Ramaswamy during a recent “All-In Podcast.”
“The gay rights movement was predicated on the idea, which I’m quite sympathetic to, that the sex of the person that you’re attracted to is hardwired on the day you’re born,” Ramaswamy said.
His assertion that homosexuality is an immutable trait is based on a lie long advanced by the political left to increase unwarranted LGBT rights, including the U.S. Supreme Court’s unconscionable Obergefell decision that shredded society’s concept of marriage while throwing open the door to the plague of transgenderism.
The ‘born gay’ claim is unscientific, a myth
Studies of sexual orientation cast serious doubt on the “born that way” notion, according to a recent report by the Ruth Institute. No “gay gene” has been discovered, and studies of identical twins likewise do not support the idea that being “gay” is genetically determined.
“The findings of a recently published study explode the false narrative that being ‘gay’ is an innate condition that is controlled or largely compelled by one’s genetic makeup,” wrote Fr. Paul Sullins, a Catholic priest and former sociology professor at the Catholic University of America, in 2019.
“Rebutting decades of search by LGBT scientists for a ‘gay gene,’ the study’s first author flatly concludes ‘it will be basically impossible to predict one’s sexual activity or orientation just from genetics,’” Sullins said.
The Ruth institute report noted that even the American Psychological Association (APA) admits:
There is no consensus among scientists about the exact reasons that an individual develops a heterosexual, bisexual, gay, or lesbian orientation. Although much research has examined the possible genetic, hormonal, developmental, social, and cultural influences on sexual orientation, no findings have emerged that permit scientists to conclude that sexual orientation is determined by any particular factor or factors [highlighting in bold by the Ruth Institute].
The APA statement concludes: “Many think that nature and nurture both play complex roles; most people experience little or no sense of choice about their sexual orientation.”
This is an admission of absolute befuddlement by the self-described “leading scientific and professional organization representing psychology in the United States, with more than 146,000 researchers, educators, clinicians, consultants, and students as its members.”
The fact is that “born that way” is a myth and so Ramaswamy has aligned himself not with science but with Lady Gaga and her gay/trans identity anthem, “Born This Way.”
It’s an UNTRUTH epically at odds with the spirit of Ramaswamy’s platform and which cries out for correction.
Casually repeating the “hardwired at birth”/“born that way” lie is dangerous because it holds a not-insignificant portion of the populous hostage to identity politics; has led to dangerous legislative and regulatory moves such as the outlawing of therapy for those with unwanted same-sex attraction and gender confusion; and has allowed for the infiltration of often highly sexualized LGBT indoctrination in our K-12 public schools and libraries.
Full disclosure: I myself am same-sex attracted. Dating back to my earliest childhood memories, I can’t recall a time when I was not same-sex attracted, as is common for many self-identifying gays. So as a matter of personal experience it seems very much that I and folks like me are “born that way.” It’s an easy conclusion to reach, but science shows that it’s not the correct conclusion.
Robbing gays of the American dream
Embracing “born that way” leads to the tragic false narrative that insists that for the same-sex attracted, embracing homosexuality is the only path available to us, that conjugal — man-woman — marriage is unattainable, that we are acting against our nature for desiring it, and that pursuing it will be dangerous for us, our spouses, and our children.
Yet the man-woman definition of marriage — conjugal, complementary marriage — is an ensign beckoning to all, not because it is just a good idea, or the best among many. It is a bright ensign because it is the truth, undeniably displayed in nature and in each of our physical beings. We are made male and female, as complements to each other.
Here’s where the lie clashes hardest with Ramaswamy’s efforts to bring about renewal in American society: To the chagrin of many on the left, Ramaswamy frequently speaks of how he was the product of a privileged upbringing because he was raised in a stable home by his mother and father.
My parents came to this country without a lot of money, so it’s not like I was born into money. But I’ve lived the American dream because I was given two parents, with a focus on education, and a belief in God. That was the ultimate privilege that I had. And I want to make sure that every kid across this country can benefit from the same thing.
It’s not just a religious foundation. Aristotle said, ‘Great countries and great nations are built on the foundation of the household. So let’s stop incentivizing people to have single parent families … let’s cultivate a culture where we celebrate the things that make us great: Family and the nuclear family in particular.
Yet the chance of experiencing this ultimate privilege in life — as children and parents alike — is undermined by the false “born that way” narrative. Two men or two women are not and never will be the foundation of a “nuclear family.”
Ramaswamy risks withholding the American dream from current and future generations and waylaying cultural renewal by insisting that gays and lesbians are “born that way.”
Bewildering ‘trans’ are ‘just gay’ comment
The candidate wandered further afield during the same podcast when he said of the booming number of trans-identifying individuals: “I think what’s happening in many cases [is] somebody who claims to be trans is really just gay.”
This is a bewildering, unsubstantiated claim, likely based on outdated stereotypes.
The male heterosexual population who identify as female do so because they suffer from autogynephilia, a term that describes males who are sexually aroused by the thought of themselves as females, or transvestic fetish disorder, which describes men who have a sexual or erotic interest in cross-dressing.
Ramaswamy’s claim is “a load of crap,” said Walt Heyer, a former transgender who reverted to his God-given sexual identity over 30 years ago and now runs SexChangeRegret.com, a ministry that helps individuals navigate out of the transgender world after “gender-affirming” medical and surgical treatments.
“His statement is totally bogus. This is what the churches think. This is what people have running through their heads,” Heyer told LifeSiteNews, yet “95% of the thousands of people that have contacted me are heterosexual.”
LifeSiteNews reached out to Ramaswamy to discuss the issues more than a week ago. Neither the candidate nor his campaign responded.

Who says that everyone isn’t wired this way?
Genes are one thing which “wires” people. Epigenes are another. Epigenes are not “hard wired”. We can change them at will.
From 1967, at age three, I grew up with a dear (male) childhood friend, Kerry, who was hilarious and extremely intelligent but always had a “soft edge” to him, like a sister in a boy’s body. After high school, he came back to visit from his first semester at the prestigious Acting Academy and admitted what I had long suspected. No matter, I loved him just the same as a big brother from a lady who was like my second mom. As we grew older (1980’s), we talked more about his homosexuality and he said “Billy, I wouldn’t wish this on anybody! I can’t tell my parents, or most friends, and certainly not my (3) brothers. I can’t hide it in Hollywood because they can see through it, and accept it, but they won’t hire me because I’m now a ‘type’ as soon as I audition.” He firmly believed he was hard wired that way, and I accepted that because I damn well was/am a hard wired flaming heterosexual womanizer. Sadly, my friend Kerry had the sad infamy of being one of the first dozen citizens to be diagnosed with HIV/AIDS and later died in 1990. I’ve since learned to believe that any perversion can be acquired as sin, evil, and madness can result and manifest in literally any abhorrent act. However, when I see these very few conservative out-of-the-closet gay pundits on TV, I see my friend Kerry, and hold a lot of empathy and compassion for their “wiring”.
But please note. Trump was "gay friendly" in 2016. No politician is immune.
He is young and inexperienced. Our hormonal production capability is genetically determined, however, it can be altered. Sexual attraction is to a large extent determined by hormonal levels, but as a responsible person we must be in control of our “urges”.
The Supreme Court says that ain’t needed. He was born here
