West Virginia Sen. Joe Manchin (D) says he is “thinking seriously” about leaving the Democratic Party and declaring himself an independent before the 2024 election, when he will have to decide whether to run for a fourth Senate term or wage a third-party bid for president.
Manchin, who earlier this year described himself as an independent Democrat, told West Virginia radio host Hoppy Kercheval on Thursday that the Democratic brand has “become so bad.”
“I’m thinking seriously. For me, I have to have peace of mind, basically. The brand has become so bad — the D brand and R brand. In West Virginia, the D brand because it’s [the] national brand. It’s not the Democrats in West Virginia, it’s the Democrats in Washington.

“Manchin has been fooling rubes and idiots for well over a decade.”
**********
It looks like his deceptive scam has finally run its course.
Blah-blah-blah-blah-blah
Manchin is a member of the Joe Manchin party and no other. He is a weathervane and changes direction as needed to keep his slimy ass in his seat. He has no moral anchor and no guiding principles beyond “me” “me” “me”.
He is cum never to be trusted. The sooner he is gone the better for the people of WV.
He’s not sure what he wants to do or which way the wind is blowing.
He’ll continue considering it right up until his re-election, after which he’ll channel Emila Litella.
Obviously caucusing D is problematic, because there are certain expectations that go with that. And I don't want to give the guy a medal. But I align with the dude more than Romney for example.
Wasn’t enough for his wife to get a cushy sinecure somewhere in the Fed.
Was speaking with a retired West Virginia Medical Examiner while stranded at the Atlanta Airport this past Sunday. I asked him about Manchin. He says he is toast in WV due to the deal he struck with Schumer. The deal that Schumer reneged on in the end. His opinion is that Justice will most likely win that Senate seat.
Manchin just barely won the last time because of two reasons.
1. Manchin played the “You’re Not a Native Son!” card hard! That still matters In WV particularly to older WV’ians. Though every election it matters less! Manchin had no senatorial accomplishments to run on! The “You’re not from around here are ya?” card was all he had!
2. Relatively ineffective campaign run by the GOP candidate.
Yes any independent running leftist would destroy Biden.
Manchin is DOA most likely this senate election, largely due to the party being so insanely toxic and beyond liberal.
He was a fool to be conned by them for his votes…
Not sure WV will give him another chance…
He may well decide to burn it down on the way out the door
Stay where you are, Joe.
I don’t trust anyone who is still a democrat after the obammy years.
If you’re just now thinking of leaving the party, you will always be a f’n Dem.
No question. He is a political snake. Just like his buddies Lindsey Graham and John McCain before him, they start posturing and mouthing whatever conservative statements they’ve carefully poll tested before reelection time. And then no less than 24-hours after being reelected they gleefully and repeatedly stab every Conservative supporter in the back — until the next election cycle.
I’ll add (3) The Democrats supported a Libertarian as a sort of stalking horse, for the YAFAH folks who can’t stand Manchin.
You can count on this throw away line from the other Open Borders Joe during every run-up to an election—the sad thing is that he’s duped the people of W VA into believing he’s had an epiphany every time.
.
Maybe the Yacht and the Billion dollar budget increase for his wife’s no show Job from Biden was a bridge too far?
The new journalistic filler:
“mulling”
“considering”
“thinking about”
“pondering”
“may”
“might”
“could”
“intends”
“plans”
“prepared to”
“poised to”
Oh yeah I forgot about that!
Sure, Joe.
“Manchin is a member of the Joe Manchin party and no other”
I wish I would’ve said that. 😏👍
There are quite enough RINOs. StaY where
You truly belong.
