Tilray and Anheuser-Busch reached an all-cash deal for the former to take ownership of eight popular brands.
The cannabis company announced the deal on Monday, projecting its closure to happen before the end of the year. The brands that Tilray will get include Shock Top, Breckenridge Brewery, Blue Point Brewing Company, 10 Barrel Brewing Company, Redhook Brewery, Widmer Brothers Brewing, Square Mile Cider Company and HiBall Energy, it said.
The acquisition is worth $85 million "subject to working capital and other adjustments," according to an SEC filing from Tilray.
Tilray said it will climb four spots to become the fifth largest U.S. craft beer business due to the volume of sales it expects the new brands will bring. Tilray’s U.S. Beer President Ty Gilmore forecasted in the release that the company’s beer segment would "triple in size" on an annual basis, hitting 12 million cases.
The company said adding the brands to its existing alcohol portfolio would bring in $250 million in pro forma revenue.

Hope. Change.
I’m still not buying my 2 decade favorite - another brand from AB. Hope it also hurts their bottom line.
Well, I’ll skip those eight brands as I don’t fashion supporting the pot industry.
How does that phrase go again?
Get Woke, go... something?
$85 million would seem like a fire sale price for these brewers. AB must be desperate.
Good, I kinda liked Shock top.
They did it just backward.
All they needed to do was to spin off BL and maybe Bud.
Compounding stupid decisions.
Go Woke and Broke.
I always though it was AB’s version of Blue Moon.
A Wheat Ale/Beer/Heffenweiss.
Pot saved me from alcoholism, plain and simple. I’m also not on any other prescriptions, like many of my peers.
I for one thank the Lord His miraculous plant blessed this Earth. Luckily by sheer will of the people, common sense is finally prevailing after years or anti-pot lobbying by alcohol and opioid manufacturers (most don’t realize who is paying for the anti-pot ads).
HFS! Anheuser-Busch even owns Blue Point Brewing Company? Everything about them is carefully designed to scream out, “Mom and Pop business!”

Once you go black, there’s no going back to pale lagers and ales.
Even though the buyer is a cannibis company, this is good news.
Now I have 8 fewer BUD brands to remember to keep on my DO NOT BUY list.
The effect of legalized cannabis on teens/young adults is just beginning. Statistics show a sharp increase in mental illnesses stemming from potent strains.
Tell me about it. Even if it’s legalized, it should be out of the hands of youngsters. 25 or older legal age. Licensed vendors selling to minors go to jail and lose their licenses.
yep
