I get 5% rewards for every dollar I charge to my GM card. When that rewards balance builds to $3500 (it takes 7 years) then I go look at new GM cars and use the rewards balance to knock off $3500 more form the final deal I made. I think we bought 5 new cars with GM rewards so far saving $17,000+

My family doesn’t use credit cards at all, a la Dave Ramsey. Dave Ramsey has lots of dumb advice. I have credit cards and use them for almost everything. I just pay them off in full every month.
