For what it's worth, I've never had to wait for a charger. But I live in Alabama and, thus, any road trip near enough to not fly (meaning road trips in the southeast) are in areas where most EV owners live in homes (charge at home). Thus, most people at road-side chargers within 600 or so miles of where I live are just the people on a trip (not people charging for local driving). We simply don't have a lot of apartment renters using up road-side chargers for local driving.
Yeah my take on evs is if you use them like a golf cart, and charge at home, they will work just fine. When these rigs depreciate enough in the next couple years, I’ll grab one with weak battery and just use it as a local runabout, keeping the gas car for trips and such.
That’s one aspect I haven’t polled people on.
So far the only people to admit, seem to be people living
in homes with chargers though. I will admit that may be
the case because others don’t want to admit to strangers
they are renters. Who knows.
