It appears these conclusions are based on satellite data, which would likely be only for the last 50 years or so and would not include records from the 1930s when temperatures in the Midwest were topping 120 degrees. These measurements are for weather and are not necessarily indicative of any climate trend. I say this is just another BS story by the climate change cult.

Mammoth Mountain Ca just closed it's ski slopes.
over 695" of snow and just closed the season on 8/6
That was close to 60 feet at the lodge, and 90 feet was recorded at the summit.
Really was it that hot this year?
uhyup as the old codgers dismissively say.

“..scientists have officially labeled July as the hottest month on record in world history.”

Seriously? Do ‘journalists’ even research the crap they write anymore?

“Modern human civilization, with its permanent agriculture and settlements, has developed over just the past 10,000 years or so. The period has generally been one of low temperatures and relative global (if not regional) climate stability. Compared to most of Earth’s history, today is unusually cold;”

Now, with the official data in, the scientists have officially determined that July 2023 was the hottest month dating back to at least 1940.

...because they don't have data from 1939...

Copernicus Climate Change Service (abbreviated as C3S) is one of the six thematic services provided by the European Union's Copernicus Programme. The Copernicus Programme is managed by the European Commission and the C3S is implemented by the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF) and is expected to become operational in 2018.

It’s not the temperature, it’s who takes the temperature.

smashed the old record by a shattering half of a degree Fahrenheit...

hottest ever according to a rounding error.

Somebody posted an excellent article about an undersea volcanic eruption in last 2022 (IIRC) that is the most likely cause of increased temperatures this summer. No link to climate change except mother nature.

I don’t know if this is true but I do know that endless massive forest fires (set by arson) do cause climate change.

ZERO explanation about where these numbers come from and how they were measured.

No verifiable source?

Therefore - no record high temps!

Also, long term temps are NOT measured day by day, or even month by month. There are far too many anomalies.

Instead, long term temps are measured by a monthly average, which is then compared to a 30 year monthly temperature average.

The deviation from the 30 year monthly average is then used to plot temperature trends - up, down, or flat.

The global temperature average only goes back to 1979, which is when satellite measurements began.

July 2023 was a very hot month, but only when compared to the last 40 years.

Finally, the article does not even mention the Tonga undersea volcanic explosion.

Tonga was the most powerful explosion on Earth since Krakatoa exploded 140 years ago.

The thermal energy that was blasted into the Pacific Ocean and the atmosphere was huge.

The amount of water vapor - the most powerful greenhouse gas - blasted into the stratosphere was the largest ever measured.

We have no idea how much of this recent heat is related to Tonga.

Summer time gets hot in places.

Some scientists say a lot of things. They get reported.

Other scientists say a lot less. They never do.

This is nonsense. It is nowhere near as warm as it was in the 1930s...when we had continent wide heat waves. 1936 is still the hotter than today.
