Former President Donald Trump Monday lashed out at special counsel Jack Smith and U.S. District Court Judge Tanya Chutkan even as the judge prepares to consider a gag order in advance of his trial for trying to overturn the 2020 election.
Deriding Chutkan as “the judge of (Smith’s) dreams,” Trump called for a new jurist to be appointed to oversee his historic trial even though his defense team has not yet made any such motion in court.
“Deranged Jack Smith is going before his number one draft pick, the Judge of his “dreams” (WHO MUST BE RECUSED!), in an attempt to take away my FIRST AMENDMENT RIGHTS,” Trump posted on his social media site.
He later followed up that post with a more direct dispatch aimed at the potential gag orders, saying “I shouldn’t have a protective order placed on me because it would impinge upon my right to FREE SPEECH.”
The new outburst came after Trump issued a less-than-veiled threat over the weekend to retaliate against his perceived tormentors.
“If you go after me I’m coming after you,” Trump wrote.
Smith flagged that post over the weekend, calling on Chutkan -- who was appointed to the federal bench by then-President Barack Obama -- to consider a new order restricting Trump from threatening witnesses or other people connected to the case.

But any restrictions will surely be greeted with howls of protest from Trump, who claims he has the right to verbally attack anyone he wants because he is running for president in 2024. ***

Based upon my 50+ years of politically based litigation (local developmental related politics), I predict this judge will quietly be replaced.
I’m sure her boss has already wondered out loud to more than one of his/her associates about it hoping she will HEAR about it through the courthouse grapevine and get the hint.
As it is, there is no question that she should recuse herself given her baggage.

I don’t understand trump. Is he suicidal? Any of the 3 judges can put him in jail until trial. Jack smith could easily recommend it. I’m pretty certain he’s going to get a gag order or a social media ban. Does anybody else in the history of the world badmouth the judge and prosecutor before trial?
Yeah, because if Trump just kept quiet and “followed the course of the law” the DOJ and DC District Court would be nice to him.

This is not primary stuff. This is real live reality that trump should be aware of. I think it’d be better to not slander the judge or prosecutor before a trial with jail time.
Trump will get a gag order, Jack Squat Smith will leak evidence and say Trump did it.

The fact that he’s President, and running for re-election, is a wrinkle you should consider here.

President Trump is not just any defendant. He is the rightful President of the United States, driven out of office by fraud, and being charged for thought crimes by an illegitimate regime.
As for the history of the world - yes. There have been past heroes who bravely spoke out against totalitarian regimes - including the Founders - and thank God for them.

If the corrupt DOJ and their DC woke lackey on the court want to gag a President of the USA, Trump should double-down and DARE them to come and arrest him.
Yes - ARREST a former President, and a present Presidential contender, for simply speaking publicly.
There are still some uninformed low IQ people out there who do not believe the Republic is dead and that the deep-state does not exist.
This should convince them.
I bet behind closed doors his attorneys (including reams who have quit, have been fired, or have not been paid) have an entirely different take about him. Including current! Lol!
