Biden fears for his life. He’ll never visit Florida
We are looking to visit the area for several days this October. It seems that several tourist places are not recovered yet
We visited the area several days mid June and it’s still heartbreaking. The damage becomes apparent once you turn onto San Carlos Blvd and it just gets worse as you get closer to the beach. There still were several boats in the mangroves visible from the road. We used to live off of San Carlos for 4 yrs and our former home (2 miles from the beach) took on 4 ft of water; our former neighbor is living in a trailer in his back yard fighting insurance, trying to find contractors and supplies. After moving we used to visit there each summer but the campground we stayed at (Oyster Bay) is wiped out.. Sanibel didn’t look much better.
I had to report back to work in New Orleans two weeks after Katrina. I’ve witnessed first hand what these people are experiencing. Especially a major retirement area in Florida.
God bless em !
I saw photos prior to visiting, but they didn’t even begin to show the destruction. It broke my heart seeing the damage to our former home and I couldn’t imagine what the residents are going thru. Investors are coming in and scooping up properties so that old Florida charm will be replaced with a lot of high rises and concrete.
