China and Russia conducted a joint naval operation near the coast of Alaska earlier this week in a “highly provocative” move amid the war in Ukraine that triggered a robust US military response.

Eleven Russian and Chinese ships neared the Aleutian Islands off the coast of Alaska earlier this week near the maritime boundary Russia shares with the US, but the fleets never entered US waters, according to The Wall Street Journal.

Highly provocative - LOL

Like drone overflights of Crimea or coordinating all the targeting for Ukraine’s attacks on Russia?

The US mainstream media doesn’t dare tell the public we are at war with Russia (and soon, China)

Why is it never “highly provocative” when NATO sends ships into the black sea?

--- "...but the fleets never entered US waters, according to The Wall Street Journal."

Odd. Drive within the speed limit and it's highly provocative? Stay within a national border, and it's highly provocative? Don't overdraw on your bank account and it's highly provocative? Don't build on your neighbor's property, and it's provocative? Don't sneak into the movie theater without paying is provocative? If there are such things as international waters and agreed-upon maritime boundaries, and some fleet isn't violating national waters, it's provocative? Highly provocative?

Reading the news can be quite the exercise in watching how words are used. And to what end and for what purpose.

Conflating various news stories of the recent days. one wonders....

How are the fleets doing in the BOILING oceans?

At the moment, The US is not at risk of a Chinese attack on Alaska. However despite their “joint operation”, the Russians know that China has always coveted Siberia and their rich, underpopulated Asian Pacific territories. The Ukraine war has shown the world and especially China that Russia is not able to conventionally defend these territories. One day Russia, Japan and the US will ally to prvent China from obtaining hegemony in north Asia.

“The Ukraine war has shown the world and especially China that Russia is not able to conventionally defend these territories.”

Nor do they need to conventionally defend them. They’ve got several thousand OTHER options.

“...triggered a robust US military response...”

A robust response? Really, 4 ships is what the clown Puppet regime calls robust?

What if Russia and China had sent war ships in international waters near Cuba? Hold my beer, Mr. Robust!

China bought the pervert pair - Joe and Hunter.

The only thing Joe and Hunter are going to stand up for is someone willing to grease their hands... or other parts.

I understand and agree with your point, but moving sums of money under the required reporting limit can be considered a crime in the U.S.

So the media created this narrative that Russia was the bad guy, Ukraine was the good guy, Trump loved Russia so he was a bad guy but Russia’s closest partner is China and the media won’t criticize China. But Orange Man bad.

--- "...can be considered a crime in the U.S."

Moving money as crime is an interesting issue, and not only in the US.

An anecdote, if I may. Decades back, I arrived back in the US without about $11K cash (in my boot, which was easy to do when traveling). Going through US Customs and because the requirement was and is to report anything over $10K or be subject to confiscation, I duly went to the customs official to report. At first, he was delighted in thinking something substantial was in a suitcase, or some such. When I told him the amount, he said with a grumpy tone, "Oh geez...." Paperwork for that! For that? And yes, he had to do the paperwork with me for that. Busy work. But I was certainly not going to run afoul of the regulations.

And then there's Hunter Biden, $83.000 a month from Ukraine's Burisma, his failure to declare and all....

You'd think that would be highly provocative to the feds. Nah. nothing to see.....

Such is our now banana republic under the Democrats and RINOs.

Destroyers probably got there a week after they left. We are profoundly unprepared for war...probably less so than in 1941.

I concur with your conclusion. And yet we have spent the most money of any nation on our "defense" which is spread out over the world today. According to some sources, we spend more than the next five or six nations today in total. How is it that so much can be spent, and yet preparedness was allowed to sink to such depths?

It suggests a profound criticism of our DoD which wasted how much in Afghanistan? One example among many....

Something is profoundly wrong, which all the rallies and flag-waving will not repair until things change. Or break.

Failure to report income is the most unpardonable sin to the IRS. The bigger the sum the bigger the crime. Junior got away with murder on this one. Normal people would be checking off days on their jail calender.
