It’s sad to see what our military has become. We are now the laughingstock of the planet thanks to the kkkommiecrat party.

But the inadequacies of this test proved glaring in Afghanistan and Iraq, where soldiers frequently suffered exoskeleton injuries as a result of their lack of holistic fitness.
In Afghanistan and Iraq, there were many back and neck injuries, not because of inadequate fitness, but because the human body was not designed to carry all the body armor and 100-pound loads.
Ukrainian and Russian soldiers are not wearing all the body armor and enormous loads US soldiers have been carrying in recent wars. The armies in Ukraine use common sense, balancing mobility and soldier health with protection.

Hi.
In war you must be as physically fit as possible or you will probably die.
A U. S. Army general once said that a gallon of sweat in training equals a pint of blood on the battlefield.
Who was that general?
Hint: Armor.

I will be happy if I am wrong, but it seems like a load of crap, bureaucratic blather to say they are addressing the issue.
I guess better than doing nothing, but we shall see.

Now that the Neocons are about to get American troops into a war against a SUPERPOWER, Congress finally decides that it might be a good idea if they were in at least a minimal condition to fight.

Sounds like they are expecting to virtue shame the adversary into fighting a gender neutral war.

My take:
1) No gender reassignment surgery either in the military or VA
2) Your chromosomes define your gender / sex.
3) Height and weight standards. Exceptions granted only if BMI is within acceptable range
3.5) range of motion test required for those seeking BMI exceptions. Touch toes, etc.
4) Old PT test is for support MOSs
5) Old PT test plus forced march for Combat support MOSs
6) Old PT test, forced march, plus lift / carry requirement for Combat MOSs
Additional test for specialized units

The Marine Corps code is that “every Marine is an Infantryman”, so we have always had a single Physical Fitness Test (PFT).
But that was back when only men fought - the women Marines a scaled-down version, recognizing the physical differences between men and women - and that the women would not be in direct combat.
Now that the wokesters are in power, all bets are off, I guess - but war hasn’t changed nor have men and women. Guess we ‘re just going to roll the dice during next fight.

Section 557 of that bill would scrap the current Army Combat Fitness Test and replace it with the old Army Physical Fitness Test.
Well that would suck. When they switched from the old one to the ACFT, I went from barely passing to one of the top PT scores in my unit. Cause running is stupid.
What they should do is scrap the 2-mile run and do a 3- or 5-mile ruck instead.

Not just the military. To qualify for training at the FBI academy, applicants must demonstrate the ability to do one pushup in an hour. That’s why the FBI looks like noodle-arm soi bois.

Not only physical fitness but also courage. I fear to guess how many of the newer woke crowd if a ‘real’ conflict happens have the courage instilled by their parents/grandparents, schooling to rush the guns or stand their ground when a horde is rushing at them. If school sports is the only vehicle nowadays to instill courage in the youngsters, I don’t see them faring well when the real world smacks them upside the head.
