DeSantis Dismisses Trump’s 2020 Election Theories as False
New York Times ^

Posted on 08/04/2023 2:45:02 PM PDT by MNDude

Gov. Ron DeSantis of Florida said that claims about the 2020 election being stolen were false, directly contradicting a central argument of former President Donald J. Trump and his supporters.

The comments went further than Mr. DeSantis typically goes when asked about Mr. Trump’s defeat. The governor has often tried to hedge, refusing to acknowledge that the election was fairly conducted. In his response on Friday, Mr. DeSantis did not mention Mr. Trump by name — saying merely that such theories were “unsubstantiated.” But the implication was clear.

“All those theories that were put out did not prove to be true,” Mr. DeSantis said in response to a reporter’s question after a campaign event at a brewery in Northeast Iowa.

Anyone who says 2020 wasn’t stolen, won’t be getting my vote.

If the lying New York Times is telling the truth about this, DeSantis just hurt himself some more.

It's something like 70% of Republicans believe the election was stolen.

That said by a guy who himself is in the process of being dismissed.

Go away Ron. You are no longer relevant in the national election. Go back to focusing on your job as governor.

He’s getting incredibly bad advice… possibly from someone looking to sabotage his future national political career.

Early on I was a committed Trump or DeSantis voter. At this point, if DeSantis and the deep state figure out a way to get trump disqualified, I’ll probably watch from home to see if he can win. I see DeSantis as being a slightly more articulate W.

Exactly !

If they destroy his viability as a Repub in the future, they can get him to run third party against Trump as the Evan McMullen “true conservative” of 2024.

If DeSantis were to run the. Country the way he has run this campaign, the US would cease to exist by June of 2025.

What an embarrassment.

There was and is a LOT more than theories. Considerable amount of factual data never allowed to be examined in legal challenges. Facts are sticky commodities, Ron, as uh.. you are finding out. Trying to massage the “culture wars” by talking about theories in the face of facts... well remains to be seen what that will produce. Playing to the tv audience.

DeSantis is a genuine, effective and proven conservative. Trump didn’t need to attack him even before he started running - also, Trump has refused to debate him - and I think we’re now seeing the payback. Trump alienates his conservative allies because he considers them rivals while he should consider them supporters.

I bet Trump will end up supporting Christie or some other total RINO (probably not Pence, but you never know).

We need to support Trump in this lawfare and also let him prove that he did indeed win. But he’s got to think a little more strategically and stop blowing my off people who could be friends.
