They DO wish for Russia to prevail. Do you even know the definition of the word, “wish,” as a noun? A most concise definition is: “a desire or hope for something to happen.”
Hell, even as a verb: “feel or express a strong desire or hope for something that is not easily attainable.” Look it up, kid.
They desire or hope (i.e., wish) for Russia to prevail (as they have been saying for over a year that it would prevail within days, or at most just a few weeks). And, if it were so easily attainable it would have happened more than a year ago. So, of course, it is NOT easily attainable. Hence, it is a wish.
