Quasi-religious fervor and rabid, unquestioning belief in a cause, thing or entity, either real or imagined, does that to some folks.
Like leftists wedded to their fantastical, crazy, murderous ideology, even at the cost of relationships with family and friends, the more extreme Youkazoids are completely emotionally invested in Youcrayne "winning," whatever that means at this point. And even if Youcrayne is reduced to looking like a Mad Max movie set, (and it's quickly approaching that point), its army in ruins, its people living in caves, they will joyously proclaim that Youcrayne has actually achieved victory over RuZZZZZZZZZia because blablabla (insert bullshit here).
