Ron DeSantis campaigning in Iowa as new poll says he’s far behind Donald Trump

Donald Trump leads DeSantis 44% to 20%, with U.S. Sen. Tim Scott firmly in 3rd place, with 9% support.

Ron DeSantis is back on the Never Back Down bus in Iowa on Friday, where new polling says he needs more face time with Hawkeye State Republicans.

A survey released by The New York Times and Siena College shows Donald Trump with more than a 2-to-1 advantage over the Florida Governor in the 2024 presidential race.

Trump leads DeSantis 44% to 20%, with U.S. Sen. Tim Scott firmly in third place, with 9% support. No other candidate is above 5%, and 12% of the 432 likely caucus participants don’t know who they back.

Interestingly, DeSantis is stronger with women than men in the state, with 22% support among female voters and 20% among men. Some polling has shown the Governor in trouble with female voters, but that’s not the case here.

DeSantis is effectively even with Trump in what’s called the “Urban East” section of the state, with the former President ahead 33% to 32%. He is tied with Trump at 26% with college-educated Iowa GOP voters, another promising sign in an otherwise bad poll.

The former President has a commanding lead with most other demographics, though.

Other Iowa polls likewise show Trump way ahead.

A new Manhattan Institute poll of 625 likely Iowa caucus participants shows Trump has 42% support compared to 17% for DeSantis.

This survey accords with another recent Iowa poll from American Greatness, which shows Trump ahead of DeSantis 42% to 15%.

A Fox Business survey released last month reveals just 5 points separate the Florida Governor and Scott. DeSantis has 16% support, with Scott at 11%. Both contenders are far behind Trump, who is at 46%.

Same poll but without the NYT trying mightily to spin the results.

Another story about polls? But we are told over and over, that we don’t believe polls, and that polls don’t matter.

Desantis is still illegally traveling on the Never Back Down bus, incredible. Disgraceful.

Another take at the same poll. Well, this take offers some interesting details. First, note that high schooler Ramaswampy doesn't even warrant a by name mention. How quickly he fades or maybe him being a bright and shiny thing was so completely and rightfully wrong.

And the polling with women is good news for DeSantis and very bad for Trump. I'm sure we'll see reminders of Trump's adultery, porn stars and whores, payoffs, grabbing pussy, sexual assaults, and more over the next year. Criticizing women governors won't help either. Criticizing former women employees won't help.

So, while polls are entertaining, they do offer up some tidbits and are great for conversation.

Illegal? Based on what? A two-bit Trump attorney or a real attorney? I don’t see any serious charges, no legal action, and I’m sure DeSantis, like other campaigns has good attorneys and wouldn’t be doing this if it were illegal or had the risk of being illegal. How does this even begin to compare with Trump paying off porn stars and whores as legal expenses?

Ultimately, when Trump is convicted on a felony charge, GOP voters will abandon him in droves.

https://www.reuters.com/legal/about-half-us-republicans-could-spurn-trump-if-he-is-convicted-reutersipsos-poll-2023-08-03/

They recognize, however they like Trump, that a conviction will lose the GOP the White House if Trump is the nominee. Which means Trump will spend the rest of his days in prison. Whereas any other Republican nominee would beat Biden. And a GOP president who wanted two terms would, of course, pardon Trump.

You are foolish if you believe that DeSantis wins if Trump is convicted.

There will be enough of us Trump Supporters who will be writing in Trump in that scenario that DeSanctimonious has no pathway to winning either the General or the Primary.

He never did anyway.

It was always wishful thinking on the part of DeSantis supporters.

Why, other than Trump hatred, would you care?

Was any of it money you donated?

Trump openly campaigned against Kemp in Georgia in 2022 blamed him for Trump’s defeat in the state. Kemp won it by over 7% more than Trump did, both times.

You may prefer Biden to any given Republican not named Trump. No one else does.

Trump also campaigned against DeSantis in 2022 while DeSantis ran for re-election. DeSantis won by 19% vs a squeaker when Trump endorsed him in 2018.

A Trump endorsement in the general is the kiss of death in races where the independent vote will decide the race. The best thing Trump could do for any GOP nominee in the presidential race would be inveigh against him as he did Kemp and DeSantis in 2022.

DeSantis, no matter your analysis, as no chance, no pathway to POTUS 2024 and by aligning himself with the Globalists, Neo-Cons, GOP-E against President Trump, he has effectively destroyed any pathway to the POTUS 2028 nomination.

Politically speaking, he is the proto-typical "Dead-Man Walking"

I think the fun part is predicting who will drop out when. If Christie is putting the weight of his campaign into New Hampshire and comes in way back, will he quit?

The GA sheriff says he will require a mugshot. A tee shirt of that will fetch $50 a pop and sell tens of thousands.

Ron DeSantis still has the ‘it’ factor. This is a valuable learning experience for ‘28.

Think of Denver QB Russell Wilson. He had a bump in his HOF journey last year. Watch him rebound. Think of the GOP as Jimmy Goroppolo/Raiders. Doesn’t have ‘it’ but he knows how to look good until he goes up against good competition or gets injured. To think the best contract he could get was in the division where he plays 2 games a year against Wilson/Mahomes and the $50 million/yr QB for the Chargers. An injury will be his excuse for the team not winning, giving him a 2nd year under Mark Davis who runs his team like his father.

Rush once said the Raider fans are like battered women-they keep coming back for more. Think GOP.
