The point is.... Only Trumpers are more afraid of DeSantis (despite his excellent record) than they are of Pence, Christie or others also running against Trump.
Why is that?

Because DeSantis has major donor backing (for now).
My view is he is such a bad candidate that they will drop him and switch to Kemp or Youngkin.
The polling shows that ~50 percent of Repubs support Trump, 25% want someone else, and 25% are persuadable, but they are much closer to Trump issue positioning than a GOPe globalist like Kemp.
Youngkin would probably be a bigger threat than Kemp. But I don’t think he will run.
Why would he do a kamikaze in 2024, lose and destroy himself for 2028, or the VP.
I don’t consider Pence a major candidate. He won’t even qualify for the debates.
Tucker blew up three candidates Scott, Hutchinson and Pence. They were all worse than DeSantis, but I don’t think any of them were significant.
Christie is also worse than deSantis, and also not a significant candidate - except for kamikaze attacks on Trump.
